Year after year I find myself eagerly waiting for it to be Ford GT Rally time. It is always my great pleasure to see my friends and all of the great things that have been done to the cars from year to year. This tear in particular I have to say that I was awestruck by the selfless nature of the GT community. As these cars get a little bit older we start to see more and more little issues come to surface. When any issues arose during this event there was no shortage of people willing to lend a hand.
In our case we had a charging system issue with Ray's matte black car. As soon as we noticed we had an issue, which was right before dinner on Wednesday night, Shadowman was right there with us to help solve the issue. We checked over the car and bounced around ideas all through dinner. Yes, he missed out on one of the best meals of the rally to help us out. Then here comes Stormcat to the rescue with a few needed tools so we could get the car in shape to drive over to A.R.T. where they loaned us their shop and tools to make any necessary repairs. Then comes Soroush who says "Hey guys, I brought an extra GT with me. If you need an alternator, feel free to take it." Additionally, Rich and Dennis (The GT Guys) poured a lot of thought into solving the issue as well as several of the technicians at A.R.T.. Ultimately we traced it down to a grounding issue and Ray and Janna were able to enjoy some driving on Friday. So I would like to give a HUGE "thank you" to these guys as well as Ed Sims who provided a few tools so we could put Soroush's car back together.
As for my good friend Dave Bannister, I really don't know how to thank you engouh. I see all of the effort that you, Francesca and numerous other behind the scenes enthusiasts pour into every one of these events. If not for you guys the GT community could not be what it is today.
I'm sure that most of you noticed that I decided to bring my daughter along for this trip. I can't tell you how excited she was to go on a trip with her dad. She thoroughly enjoyed herself at the hotel, at the events and in the company of everyone who attended. Just like all of us, she is a true car nut. Everyone took the time to make certain that she felt like she was part of the community. I would like to give everyone my greatest thanks for this. I really can't tell you all what it meant to me for everyone to have treated my little girl the way they did and make her just that much more enjoyable.
Last but certainly not least I would like to thank my great friends Ray and Janna Hofman for giving us the opportunity to build the cars that we have for them and for keeping cool heads and jumping right in to help when we were working the bugs out of the matte black GT.
