Ford GT Prices compared to Ferrari & Lambo - 5 yrs later

From where I am at, the GT is still selling near MSRP and looking like it could roll off the showroom today styling. The Gallardo is looking dated and the 430 will be old school compared to the Hot 458.

The G was the the only other car I was considering at the time of my FGT purchase.....glad I went with FGT.

However the most current version is quite nice looking....and they drive and sound fantastic.

The Ford GT has been IMO rock solid with the values today less depreciation being close to when new.

The low exceptions are IMO fire sales, folks that prefer to sell them to a broker, and those with history.

Now as for the Aston being tossed in the mix for another measure; they have always fallen like a rock.

Most Astons need a significant passage of time to become valuable classics. The DB 2's, 4's and 5's are fetching very high prices, as are V8's from the 1980's, particularly the model I had, the Vantage Volante ($200k +). However the modern 9's were made in too higher numbers. I suspect the Vanquish will, at some distant point, become a valuable car, it was hand made at Newport Pagnell (the spiritual home of Aston Martin before they closed it down) and, despite being flawed in some respects, it will become a classic in years to come. But you'll need patience!

The Ford GT is a car you never see for sale in the UK, as rare as hen's teeth and comfortably hitting $185k. Just a shame I paid $230k for mine!

Should be noted MSRP of Ferrari, lambos was about $10-15k more new..... Unless u went absolute base, stock... Where they were close but no dealer had or would rarely order

Still the best looking car and performance value!! And you can mod it, not have it dealer serviced and it doesn't kill the value. I think it helps that it was a two year run with no replacement car as well. If you have a FGT you have a rare car period. :cheers

I think the GT benefits from pent up visceral regret / envy demand:

-Thinking mans regret: went with 600 SL65 AMG Black, 911 GT2 RS, Audi R10...lost in crowd
-Manly mans regret: ZR1, Viper...needs more
-Snobish mans regret: Turned up nose at GT, went with 430/Gallardo...now knows better
-Lazy mans regret: was sure this was like SLR and they would give them away
-Car show mans regret: That GT gets all the attention
-Rich Mans Regret: Veyron not as pretty
-Future F GT Mans regret: should of bought a 2nd one: Gulf,...

Its like that hot cheerleader in college you never married...and you see her at reunion and she is still HOT

Interesting thread and it's always nice to know my FGT is still holding value. I don't own any of these other cars being discussed nor could I afford them, however, IMHO it's not all about price. I'd love to own any of the cars being discussed. They are all beautiful performance cars and I wouldn't kick any of them out of the garage for needing a wax job.

Just spent the afternoon basking in a little garage therapy, changing the oil in my mighty GT, and thinking about this very subject.

Here is the equation: Mid engine exotic+ built in America+great racing heritage+easy to mod+ 200 mph right out of the box +jaw dropping, eye popping styling + only 4000 made + great community of owners = cars that will only become more valuable as time passes.

Ah, its great to be a GT owner!

I agree with all your regrets... but beg to differ on the Viper ACR. After almost two years and numerous track and road miles, I LUV the ACR more than the day I got it and same for the GT - the only two cars that I never got bored with. I have absolutely no regrets on buying the Viper ACR, couldn't say the same about many other Porsches, Ferraris, and Corvettes.

As I said in another thread, each entry level Ferrari (458, 430, 360, etc) has 20,000+ units for each model. There has been over 10,000 Gallardos made. Not collector cars. Expensive cars but not collector cars.
