Updates on your 2005-2006 Ford GT, What have you done lately?

I have a dead battery and was surprised to see that the battery just sits in the shelf without any tie downs. I looked in the manual and it states that if your battery has a cover/shield remove first. Mine doesnt have a cover or shield or any type of tie down. Is this typcial?
Yes, ALL GT's utilize a small shoe at the bottom of the battery to hold it in firmly. There are often not installed correctly.

Yes that is typical. There is a wedge at the rear that tightens down the base of the battery. If you do not LINE it up correctly, the battery will not sit flat and you cannot fit the trunk tray in. There several threads about this. Search can be you friend.

One more warning, make sure you have the fenders well padded with soft blankets or towels. It is very easy to dent them with your elbows while taking the battery in or out.

One more piece of advice, The rod that extends down to screw the wedge in: tie a string around it several feet long or wrap a wire around it otherwise you may have to pull the chin spoiler to get it if it falls down and in.

Ugh.

At my last battery swap, I did indeed lose the rod and used a bore scope to locate it and get it out, without removing the chin spoiler. Whew. So, yes, the leash sounds like a good idea!

My spring clip grabber retrieved more than a few things from the belly pan.

No I never had it happen to me, but it was posted many times here on the Forum. I am on my third battery) in almost 18 year. Do it once and you will understand. When the new battery goes in it has be shoved forward a fraction of an inch so the wedge can go all the way down. If you read the service manual, it is supposed to come out the bottom of the car.

I have done mine once, went through the bottom, do not remember it being a That difficult, I must say the warnings about damage to the fenders scares me especially because I have a “ short reach”!

Don't trust fender padding. I did, and still dented the fender with my elbow.

Could you pop it back out OK, or did it require body repair and paint?

The fender liner has to come out, a fate worse than death.

Yes, I needed a dent repair guy. He did a perfect job, but I had to remove the inner fender for him, a miserable two-hour job. The good news is two months later I hit a deer at 70mph and needed a new fender anyway (thanks Rich!).

Nothing like early morning American Muscle at The Finish Line in Costa Mesa, California.

Who makes the carbon diffuser? Looks awesome!

That diffuser is a huge improvement. Better than the factory rubbermaid looking diffuser! Nice Roketman!

Ed, How much increase in Ride height did you observe when making the switch?

My Penske's are set up like yours were, curious to know how much higher the car will sit at the lowest setting with Scott's system.
The ride height with Scott's Ohlins are adjustable.
