Jeez
so I was parking ever so carefully today and barely kissed a kerb with my nearside front wheel. I now have a 2" gouge on the rim, plus the rim protector on the crappy Eagle is torn up. I cannot believe how such a tiny 'kiss' could do this, but there you are....
Anyway, does anyone have a new or unmarked-used front BBS for sale? Please pm me if you do (especially if you're in the Houston area!)
Alternatively, could the wheel be repaired to as-new? I know on my Cobra wheels with polished rims I was run off the road last year by a crazy lady in a pick-up; two wheels were gouged pretty badly, but were repaired by American Wheel so that I connot tell the difference. However, with a painted rim I'm not so sure - any feedback or recommendations?
The torn-up Eagle now offically gives me the excuse to swap out for Bridgstones before the Rally (I'm driving up from Houston). My Eagle rears are pretty bald anyway after 7000 miles, but the fronts seem as-new. I now think I'll go for the 345/35 rears and 265/35 fronts. By calculation, this will drop the front by about 0.5" and the rear by 0.3". I actually like this idea as it will help eliminate the unfortunate ever-so-slight rear-end down look that stock GTs have - that's always irriated me (guess I'm a hot-rodder who likes the nose-down rake). My big concern is whether the half-inch lowering at the front will completely screw-up the practicality of the car in everyday drivng, causing me to tear up the front splitter at every speed bump or parking garage ramp - anyone got good or bad experience with this configuration of Bridgestone?
Can't wait for Virginia!
