There were more than a few cars built before the Wixom shop opened.
While training at SSV in July of 03, I worked on CP-9 and several other CP cars. They were test mules, and crash test cars. They were mostly white, with a few black cars. Most, if not all of these early cars were built at Roush. By the time Wixom opened in Jan. 04, the cars were 99% production ready. I have pictures of CP cars I took while at SSV in 07-03.
I wrote down the colors and VINs for the first cars at Wixom. PB1-3 was Gulf Blue (no stripes) VIN # 00036. PB1-4 was Silver with no stripes, VIN # 00039:thumbsup
I will ask DBK to post them. The car was a runner.Bony, was that car a runner, or just a mock up? That could have been the one that ended up on the roof of Wixom.:thumbsup

I am pretty sure that yellow Concept car that Bony saw at Pebble Beach in 2002 is the same car I shot at Pebble Beach in 2003:

......just repainted red. It also was shown in red at Ford's 100th Anniversary Celebration in Dearborn in June, 2003. I hate to think they tore it up and made the roof-top display out of it.
The other car, that did not have a drive-train, was originally given to the guys at Safir Engineering in return for use of the GT40 labeling that Ford had already prepared for the January, 2002 Detroit Auto Show.
