06fordgt I can hardly wait to see the end result of your efforts. Are you having them painted? Anyone else hear of concerns expressed by Florida Chris regarding powder coating cast wheels? John
The optional wheels are BBS. Who makes the standard rims, just Ford?
]Yes, the heat required to cure the powder coating could adversely effect the tensile strength of the alloy castings]
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%% Can't agree. It can't . Powder coating is only heated (effectively " baked" ) at 350 degrees----- Far far far less than the heat required to adversly effect tensile strength of 6061 , 5050 or any of the common aluminum alloys. If powder coating effected aluminum tensile strength there would be a lot of dead folks at Daytona this time of year.
Correct ... BBS makes both the standard cast and optional forged alloy wheels for the FGT. usmcfred
FWIW:
1) The standard ones have to be easier to clean!!
2) maybe its been mentioned but I hear BBS is in some kind of recievership?
I love the optional BBS forged wheels.
The design is very purposeful in structure and strength.
Does form follow function or function follow form in this case...?
In any event, I think they did a great job with both wheel designs, and I think most owners are pleased with either, which is not often the case in this day and age.
Actually, BBS JAPAN ....................
Cast Wheels - BBS Germany
Forged Wheels - BBS Japan
