Hello everyone,

I hope I'm posting this in the right place, if not please move the thread.

As you all know, we now have to spend most of our time at home...

I've just acquired a 1:18 white Ford GT, and turned it into a carbon  This isn't an exact replica of the liquid carbon car shown at the Chicago show, as I preferred to have a bit of color.

very cool

I like a little color too. The Chicago display of the all carbon was a bit of a black hole.
Very NICE job on the model!!
Still working on the rear view mirrors? Even full size my clear bra installer struggled.

Thank you so much for your comment. Yes, I think a little color makes everything look nicer :)

For the mirrors, I haven't started them yet. I think I'll make them with 3 sections of carbon decals (top, inside, bottom) to avoid wrinkles. It won't be super easy because they're small, but I think it won't be more difficult than the buttress area.

Yup been there done that.... These suckers are NOT made to come apart. I started with silver, as it was the 1st I came across with black wheels. Didnt take apart the butresses, carefully masked off the intercooler grills, and mirror arms Much easier with out stripes. LOTS of light coats. Lots of clear. All "rattle can", no cheating with having it done in a booth (ha).

Yes, really need practice to not break parts when removing them ;) I would also have keep the buttress on the model for a regular repaint. But for the carbon foil, I really needed to have them removed.

Nice model you have done here, good work :)

Oh totally, to get in there with the carbon, no other way.

Looking at the picture, I just realized I should have gone further, with blue seat bolsters, and calipers.....

Yeah worked out well, also allows you to also do this I cant stand the amber. The red in the back is fine as it matches the tail lights:

Was far trickier that I expected, as if you look at the top, there are LED's in there.

Good color match Specracer!
