Lorenzo's Car comes to life, {sound clip}

How large is the cam? 2.5"!

I will defer the the experts that have disassemble an engine, but there is a lot of stuff that has to be removed to get to the cams. Doing so with the engine in place may be more labor intensive, or impossible, than to remove the engine and do the job right.

Anyone knows how many hours it takes to R/R the engine/Trasnaxle?

Note: We'll be taking Apollo's transaxle out in a couple of weeks and if you want us to swap motors when he's not looking, we're open to bribes. The turbos have to stay, however, as I know he'll miss these. Shhhhhhh!

Seriously, with the transaxle out of the way, probably another 3-4 hours to have the engine out.

Lorenzo's DA engine will make more hp & torque than before the mods. It will also do so in a less stressed state while sounding like a real GT40!

Ed

PS I have 22,000+ miles on my DA engine! It lumps at idle but is smooth over that. More smooth than stock!

Theory, butt dyno, or real? (I'd love to see the actual graphs.) I'm assuming cost is similar if not more than TT and certainly neither will make CARB happy. But, oh, there is no question about the symphony at idle!!

My Whippled engine gained over 100 hp with the DA mods but the boost pressure went from 19 lb to 17 lb! It is a 800+ rwhp engine with very low stress.

Ed

I wonder what this engine would be like with a twin turbo?

my engine got a similar treatment and after we put it back together it made an additional 100 hp on the dyno without changing anything on the tune on the first pull, it eventually made 120 more hp than before on engine alone, from 740 to about 865 on motor with no nitrous.

it would have made more if we had tuned it for race gas but as we planned to run nitrous there was no need for a race gas tune on motor alone!!

Hey Lorenzo - are you ready to test out that Shadowman engine on some of the best roads in the USA? You'll put around 1000 miles on it in the 3 days we have planned. It'll be warmer here than where you're at now!

Cant wait Ed. Thanks for putting all of this together.

Ok, Lorenzo's engine is crazy cool. Being a mid-Westerner he loved today's PCH drive & yesterday's wine country drive. Here is a photo from today north of Bodega Bay on the PCH (CA Hwy 1). More to follow.

It was lightly raining where I was today and on Sun it will be more rain. See you guys tommorow in a wife's Prius so my FGT stays dry. :lol

Yes, we are still going to meet at Alice's today. But not in our GTs. PM me for my details anyone.

See you there,
Ed

What a great time! Lorenzos car sounds truly wicked and was the cleanest driven GT I have ever seen! The combination of motor and traction control Shadowman cooked up for both Ed and Lorenzos cars was amazing to watch on the damp roads. I can’t begin to count the number of times I had the rear come around trying to get some forward velocity in vain while watching those beasts put the power down and accelerate away. I’m truly jealous!

Here are a few teaser photos of the Lorenzo-Shadowman engine in NorCal weekend. More to follow. Wow, was that fun! Great roads, good times & GT buddies!

Those are some great pictures, particularly the last one.

Thanks again Ed for arranging such a fun trip. I love the last set of pictures. It is hard to capture how magnificent these roads are!

Where's the women? I can't beleive California without long, leggy blonds in a pic.

Not in the winter time. Some of them are skiing on the slopes of the Sierra mountains.

Here are a few more photos from the Mini-Rally.
