Read an interesting article debating the best fictional car and the best fictional driver from the tv/movies. I didn't agree with the choices, especially the cars. Magnum's Ferrari made the list and while it is an iconic car, I took the question literally as in cars made especially for TV/movies.

Personally I will go new school with the new Batmobile from Batman Begins. Heavy lambo on steroids overtones with an honorable mention to Doc Brown's time machine from Back to the Future. Stainless steel Delorean and the Flux capacitor. :thumbsup

For the driver, it would have to be the Bandit. After I saw that movie all I wanted was a black trans am with t-tops and to drive fast. Plus nowadays where can you see a mustache like that!! Honorable mention to Nick Cage in Gone in Sixty Seconds. Stealing great cars and having that classic car chase in Memphis's unicorn, the '67 Shelby GT500, and the awful blond hair :biggrin made it a memorable role.

Definitely intrigued but what cars and drivers have moved the rest of you over the years. :cheers

How about Steve McQueen in Bullet and Berry Newman in Vanishing Point? Of course many of the younger guys on this forum are saying, what?

Bullet by far is the most intersting to me and I am only in my VERY late 30's but, I like seeing a car really driven in an almost real situatuion, no CGI, just driving in ALMOST real time. Usually underwealming to the untrained eye, but the "e brake" induced slides etc are not cool to me. Forgot the original gone in 60 seconds was cool too......

And a lot of people don't know it but the guy Steve was chasing in Bullet was Bill Hickman one of the top drivers in film and a real stunt driver with impressive credentials, including French Connection and the 7ups . I have read he was the best driver in Hollywood.

'Only thing about the chase scene in "Bullet" that 'bugged' me was the fact that McQueen's Mustang musta had a 14 speed Road Ranger tranny in it! I mean, COME ON! He shifted into more gears at more speeds in that thing than the number of rounds a spagetti western's "six shooter" could fire w/o reloading! :lol :lol :lol

What about KNIGHT RIDER and DUKES OF HAZZARD???

Right!! And the car lost about 12 hubcaps during the chase...

didn't want to read anyones responses to not sway the vote.

1st that came to mind is The MACH 1 and Speed Racer " The CARTOON"

2nd was the General Lee with BO and Luke DUKE

Runners up....

Knight Rider
The A Team Van
any of THE BOND cars

These are of course from childhood memories

Now I'm going to go read your responses....

OK.... present cars that are with us now!!!

No doubt the new BATMOBILE.... good choice :thumbsup

The Wonder Bread Stock Car in TALLEDAGA NIGHTS

hmmmmm....... what else??

I knew it would not take long for Bullet to be mentioned. I have seen the chase, but never the movie. Never seen Vanishing Point either. :frown Ordered both tonight to broaden my late thirties horizons. :biggrin

I also loved the Bond cars...espcially the submarine Lotus from the Spy Who Loved Me. Seeing the posts by Stunts (great Forum name by the way) made me think of a different way to take this. What is your favorite car stunt from the movies?

Personally I thought the guy base jumping out of the Corvette after he drives it off the bridge in XXX was unbelivable. I used to skydive with that guy in my former life. It was intense. I would LOVE to do that. Two honorable mentions. One was the Aston Martin roll in Casino Royale. That sucker went end over end and set a world record for most rolls in a stunt crash. The two big gags in one five minute sequence during Live Free and Die Hard were pretty impressive as well. That taxi, without Bruce Willis and the kid standing there, actually was perfectly timed and hit the two oncoming cars and that was followed up by the police car being launched into the helicopter. Both of those stunts (besides the insertion of the people) were not CGI. Yes, I am partial to the more modern movies. :cheers

I forget his last name butt I'm pretty sure its ADAM, an english stuntman who did the roll over in casino... had drinks with him about 1 1/2 months ago... and then as far as bruces double goes... Larry Rippenkroeger... he did some harry... and I mean harry stuff on that film prior to getting injured...

Now I know that "stunts" is also your job, not just your Forum name. :biggrin I knew Tim and Brad Martin very well when I was instructing full-time. They used to jump at our drop zone a lot and I actually instructed a couple of their friends until they were able to solo. Both of them were really talented skydivers. Also really great down to earth guys. Lost touch when I stopped jumping so much when I started my current business. Thanks for the low down on the other two sequences. Has to be a fun job. :cheers

I like the bond cars, especially the DB5 with the ejector seat. can def. come in handy..... an invisible vanquish....I could see some use for that, only if there was way to park it in the girls shower.:biggrin
