Dave,

What does the H represent before the 040?

That's actually a metallic blue Hellcat.

I do believe it is model year designation but I'd have to double check that.

Yes - H is for the model year sequence. Cars with 'H" would be 2017's .
But interestingly 2018's will not be "I" . Typically we avoid the "I' designation since it could be confused with a "1"
So , the 2018 model year cars will be designated "J" since "I' is skipped.

Some one currently in 'active-duty" at Ford please pipe-in and verify... but that is how is has been...

Dave - feel free to use GT 350 Grabber Blue Mustang comparison photos as you see fit..

My guess is Dave has been sleeping at the shop... I'll bet he already has a bed and TV near the GT40

You are correct. H represents the MY designation in the VIN and it is defined by NHTSA. They skip I, O, Q,Z, & 0 in the progression through alphanumeric digits. So every 30 years the numerical digit matches the MY designation as it did on the 05-06 cars.

Amazing how it turned out. Stunning & that is only in photos. One of a kind. I can't wait to see it in person. Congrats DBK!

Congratulations on a stunning & gorgeous color on your new GT!

Thank you the awesome write up and sharing the beautiful pictures of your 17 GT 40.
It's most appropriate for our illustrious leader of The GT Forum to have this unique & deserving designation!

Enjoy your awesome New GT!

So, will they start over with the numbering each model year, or will the first "J" car be 251? Just wondering...

Now, that's a BLUE car! I'm sure the computer images don't do it justice, so I look forward to seeing it in Utah (along with 100 of your other closest friends). Hope the clear film doesn't change the appearance.

So, can I be 40 next year?

Ed

PS AJB - I'm not sure it'll be white with blue stripes.
