Awesome video at

http://www.laferrari.com/en/

Not crazy about the nose but otherwise looks and sounds awesome. Makes the Lamborghini look like a kit car for 9 year olds.

It is surly not sexy like a FGT.The test of time will be the best judge

Omfg !!! I think i am in love !

Wow.

What used to be "show cars of the future", are now cars that one can buy.

These are way beyond my economic capacity.

And being here in the USA it's highly doubtful I'll ever see any of them in person. Drat it all anyway.

You'll definitely see plenty of GT3s at least. And I'd bet you'll end up seeing a few "LaFerrari" running around. P1 slightly more iffy.

2 of the 3 of the BatmoLambos are going to the USA. Whether or not you want to see it is another matter. :lol

Love your optimism!

Yes, after thinking about it, I would not at all be surprised of some of my local Bazillionaire Car Fanatic's will be flying low around the Pacific NW in them.

Interesting dimensions on the two mega players.

Ferrari

Length 4,702
Width 1,992
Height 1,116

Mclaren

Length 4,590
Width 1,946
Height 1,170

Ford GT

Length 4,640
Width 1,950
Height 1,130

The Ferrari is longer, lower, and wider than a GT. Pretty much what you'd expect. P1 is shorter, narrower, and taller than a GT. That's a really small car for this class. Surprising that the Ferrari is listed as lighter, though I take everything the Italians say about their vehicle weights with an entire shaker full of salt.

Units?

MM

Curious, how can Ferrari make a car that is lower than the GT but the GT could no longer meet DOT safety regulations because of the cabin height?

It's not the overall cabin height. It's the relationship between an unbelted occupant of a certain height and where, when and with what force they would theoretically impact their head inside the cabin. See the round greenhouse on LaFerrari, and the extremely round greenhouse on the P1.

I will ask what the specific rule was but it's probably something in FMVSS 208 where the rules changed for cars built after September 1, 2006, which is why Ford finished production of the car by exclusively building cars for the Canadian market for the last month of production until they stopped on October 1.

Look up FMVSS 208 S5.1.2. My guess is that's it, but I have to see Camilo this afternoon and will ask him. Not that he'll remember the rule number, but he'll remember the test, as he has bitched about it before.

Dave great photos! Our local auto shows are nothing in comparison, not even worth going to.
