Before these magically disappear someday, I suggest these as required Ford GT owner reading. Very cool papers published by the Ford GT team in the SAE technical papers series. Most you have to pay for, but Roush has these up available for download.

Right Click and Save as to download these PDF's.

2005 Ford GT Powertrain – Supercharged Supercar by Curt Hill, Glen Miller (Ford Motor Company) and Robert Gardner (Roush Industries)

2005 Ford GT- Maintaining Your Cool at 200 MPH by Curt Hill, Glen Miller (Ford Motor Company) and Michael Evans, David Pollock (Roush Industries)

And you can buy this book with original technical papers on the original GT40 as well as 11 SAE publishings on the new Ford GT for $90.

The Ford GT: New Vehicle Engineering and Technical History of the GT40

This book includes the following papers:

  • 2005 Ford Gt - Melding the Past and the Future
  • 2005 Ford Gt Powertrain - Supercharged Supercar
  • Ford Gt Body Engineering - Delivering the Designers Vision in 24 Months
  • 2005 Ford Gt - Vehicle Aerodynamics - Updating a Legend
  • Design and Analysis of the Ford Gt Spaceframe
  • 2005 Ford Gt - Interior Trim and Electrical
  • 2005 Ford Gt - Maintaining Your Cool At 200 Mph

  • The Ford Gt Transaxle - Tailor Made in 2 Years

Thanks !! Very informative !!

As Dave points out the comprehensive book with all the SAE technical papers is very interesting reading. And again supports the observation that Fred's group of engineers did it right, including documentation.

In addition to the papes Dave listed above, the book also contains some interesting SAE technical papers Ford wrote and presented during the development of the GT-40 back in the 60's:

1. Development of Ford GT Sports-Racing Car, Covering Engine, Body, Transaxle, Fuel System, Suspension, Steering and Brakes.
2. Modified High-Performance 427 cu. in. Engine is Used in Ford Mark II-GT Sports-Racing Car.
3. High Efficiency Air Induction System for 427 cu. in. Engine Used in Ford Mark II-GT Sports-Racing Car.
4. Ignition and Electrical Systems for Ford Mark II-GT Sports-Racing Car.
5. Development of Transaxle for Ford Mark II-GT Sports-Racing Car.
6. Ford Mark II-GT Sports-Racing Car Disc Brake System.
7. Laboratory Simulation of Powertrain for Ford Mark II-GT Sports-Racing Car

The full book is a must have.

Yeah, MUST HAVE if you're IndyGT, MAD in NC or Ralphie. I'd rather read Gray's Anatomy (the one with all the new bones).

Stumbled upon this thread after searching for these SAE papers.... does anyone still have copies of the PDF's that we're originally posted in this thread?
