Sinovac,

Bravo......your post above is so spot on IMO. Like you I never considered spending a lot of money on a supercar until the moment I saw the ‘05 GT. In one instant I went from “never” to “I must have one”. And that purchase was a stretch. But at least I knew that I’d never buy another supercar. Until Ford announced the new GT. Again in one instant I went from “never again” to “if I don’t own one of these it will ruin my life!!!” And talk about a stretch!! But hey, at least I know I’ll never buy another supercar.

Chip

:agree::agree:

I told nobody that I’d banged on every one of my Ford contacts 24 hours after the GT was announced for production in March of 2002. Spending that kind of money for that kind of car was so out of character for me I didn’t want to face the grief of having people know.

But I knew I wanted one, and I was not going to hesitate if I was fortunate enough to get one.

And it’s worked out okay.

Good point. I didn’t consider that.

Agree. The last couple of years I've made it to Colorado to watch the Pikes Peak Race where electric cars and motorcycles blistered the course and set records. Did absolutely nothing for me as they swished by with the only sound being made was that of a mandated European emergency vehicle siren blaring so they don't sneak up on course workers and run them over. Very uninspiring.

The next ‘big money’ will be made by supplying on board systems that mimic the traditional sounds of cars operating. That will ensure that pedestrians in the vicinity of electric cars will not be surprised and/or injured by these new ‘silent killers’.

What kind of lap could Joey or Dirk put down?

We don't need to wonder about Joey or Dirk. We have Billy Johnson to prove what this car can do.

There is more available.

For reference, I remember back for the original LL, they allowed company drivers to drive. Mean Gene Martindale drove the GT and set the top time on the board with a 3:00.7. Most people can't corral the immense capability of the 06. Billy went 22 seconds a lap faster in the 17. Wrap your head around that.

Awesome,:thumbsup and just imagine if they set up camp and spent several days fine tuning a ringer car for that glory lap like most of the other manufacturers do....

Yeah, and for reference, not that it matters, but it does crush the Viper ACR's 2:40.2 they set on their "lap record" tour.

Chip ,
My feelings and thoughts precisely!!!!! Well stated.. Does the lap time even really matter in either car? Will any of us even come close to those lap times? No, but im going to try like hell!

Hi Joey -

I just wanted to make sure you didn't miss this:

I didn't want my first post to come across as saying it was the fastest ever because I didn't have permission to make such a statement at the time.

But...fastest ever.

Babe "DBK" don't push it.......I still love you......while everyone is blowing up about tenths of a second, I'm telling you after driving my McLaren and you driving the Ford GT .
These cars are so advanced , they are space ships....
Where does it go from here?
300 mph?
Its funny after all these years we can break each others chops, but still no anger......
I'm in for the new Rolls Royce Dawn when the warranty is up on the 720s.
I want royal blue with white interior.

Ford GT - like yes! A McLaren, a Rolls, a Lambo... like no! I can't wait to take mine to Laguna. I have my track times from SCCA days & recently in my '05 GT. Who thinks the NGT will beat those?

That corkscrew is wild, Ive seen Brian Redman take it in a DB4GT at 130 mph, just nuts.
