Completely the wild west...I'm on two list with local large dealers. I don't like my chances and at the end of the day I don't think a list makes any difference. The biggest fish or the first one there with the check for the largest amount over will get the car. I'm not putting a deposit down. Hopefully, I'll get one near the end of the run and frenzy. The most concerning issue is I have is the non-professional approach I've encountered at both large dealers which have been historically "THE" performance dealers in Denver. Neither sales person in their "performance sales specialist" position knew anything about the GT or GT 350R. The one guy stated that they would get a few as they had sold "3 or 4 GTs just before they quit making them a couple of years ago". Then he goes on to tell me the GT350R will be a $20K over type of vehicle...goes from knowing nothing to knowing the most important thing to him: what it's gonna cost over sticker. The other "specialist" stated he'd find out more about the "GTR" and see when he could get me one.
I'm just disappointed with realizing what little I know is more than the both of them combined, but neither one can wait to get their hand in my wallet. I get it if you are selling the Focus or F-150, but these were supposed to be the dealership "experts". More than likely, I just got sent to the "next guy up" for a customer. If Lincoln can "Black Label" a $80K SUV, then I sure hope once the dealerships get informed, Ford approaches the halo car similarly.
