best sports car for 60k

2011 GT500 with the SVT performance package would be fun to drive and fun to track too, I would think. Then you could buy your significant other something with the ten grand you'd save (not including taxes etc.). Or use the extra dough for dedicated track tires unless you don't mind melting off the expensive new Goodyears that come with SVT package.

I second that.

I like to have a theme to my rides and the Shelby with the SC 5.4 has a lot of connection to the GT

OK ,Let me clarify.
I would like a car that is fun to drive on the street and can be taken to the track for track days.It would also be nice to get something that is not going to tank in value.Ok I must be dreaming ,right ?
I have been thinking of a 993twin turbo(my favorite 911), Nissan GTR , GT 500/Shelby,Lotus Exige .The problem is, I have to open the garage and have wood over it like the Gt! I am afraid to say the Gt has ruined me!

I have a 993tt I will sell you for less than 60, very clean car and lots of upgrades already, car comes with two sets of turbos, three sets of wheels, upgraged ECU so you dont have to spend another 2500 getting the 97 year model, this one already has it! H&R coilovers(8K dollar setup) also have extra exhaust and and mufflers for it as well, pm me if interested.

plus its the best color combo too:wink, polar silver and blk interior, ruf pedal, sliver trim bezels, etc..... lots

That 993 is hot! It would go well with my GT

Now that is a deal! She would be fun to drive on and off the track.....

I'd buy an '08 or '09 GT500KR. They are still available at some dealers brand new.

Limited production. Shelby pre-title. Ford muscle. New car warranty. Perfect stable mate to the FGT.

MHO.

If its old you want go 66 etype 4.2 , syncho...and looking good.:biggrin
Real world pick up the porsche....theres no contest and you CANNOT BLOW IT UP.......GTJOEY 1314/BEATING THE CRAP OUT OF SONIC BLUE..:thumbsup

Get a base Vette.

I think with employee pricing its like $40K; you can beat cr@p out of it and it retains its re-sale value 2nd only to Lexus.

You can leave it outside, it wont rust.

Use the other $20K for tires, or Vegas.

If you don't need to carry more than 2 people, right on target!

993 twin turbo 1996,
Lotus excige s240
Nissan gtr
My 3 finalists

Out of those 3 I'd go for the Lotus.....I'm sure it'll be the most reasonable as far as keeping it on the track....from tires to a tune-up. Lots of low cost mods available too. And you'll hone your skill by learning how to drive a "slow" car fast...instead of a fast car slow......but then again you may be a terrific driver, I don't know:wink

Outside of the Vette, M3 & Lotus...you are in a no mans land b/w hopped up pony cars and watered down euro cars.

There is always the WRX...they have a cult following...but the brands "Butch" cult is one dont want to meet.

Nissan gonna give you balsa...wood but kinda soft, Shelby or Lotus, hardwood maybe oak , nothing give you Lignum Vitae (Latin: wood of life, Wikipedia- -rare, endangered) but the GT. Sorry, live with it.

ok. if used on a budget.

Buy an 05 Elise (low mileage about 25k). then send it to a tuner drop another 15k into it and at the end of the day you have a 475HP car weighing in at 2200 lbs. Take the remaining 20k and use that to fund your trips to the track.

toyota motor (by that time built and drysumped / tt'd) reliable.
cheap to own, drive ... and give you a heart attack.

either that or buy a Caterham 500 and a mask. Fun to drive but don't want anyone see you doing it. Out run a veyron on the track ... and just about everything else.

Of these cars I would eliminate the GTR and be left with choosing between the 911 and Lotus. Ron, since you know 911s very well, you should test drive a Exige and imagine what it would be like with more HP, then decide.
