Saturday morning, a bunch of GT'ers managed to drag ourselves out of bed, after the Big Rally Auction Dinner, and head out to Sealy, Texas to take John Hennessey and Don Goldman up on their invitation to visit their motorsports facility.

A smooth drive out there, and we immediately availed ourselves off a delicious spread of Texas BBQ. There really is nothing quite like Texas hospitality. The first thing the Hennessey staff told us when we arrived, was to help ourselves to some food and drinks. My kind of people...

Then Dave Golder provided a couple walking tours of the impressively clean, large, and well organized facility. This place is BIG! This picture only shows a part of the many bays.

We got to take a closer look at the new Camaro with LS9 engine, a variety of SRT vehicles, and even a fun car being prepped for the "Lemons" rally.

The fun cranked up a few more notches. They brought us out to their 1/4 mile track, and it was like the first time I visited a nice house as a teenager and the owners had a single bowling alley arcade machine. You could bowl all day if you wanted to.

It was like that kind of feeling. They ran the staging lights and time slips for us.

The guys were like kids in a candy store. I did a couple runs in my GT, and then headed out to the Houston Airport with Apollo and his wife. I could have stayed all day. :banana

Ed Sims made a bunch of passes. And then he made some more...And then...

Really want to thank Don Goldman, John Hennessey, Dave Golder, and the staff at HPE/LMP for opening up their doors with welcoming arms to the GT'ers. :thumbsup

I think I would OD from too much car fun if I attended one of these things. Great pics as always.

The fun memories from this past week will definitely last a longtime. Four straight days of a really nice variety of driving events (Track, Texas Mile, Country Hills, 1/4 miles) and GT camaraderie (lunches, dinners, drinks, etc.). Can't ask for much more than that.

Heading out to the local farm now to pick out some pumpkins with the wife and kids, gotta get ready for Halloween. Show me your GT themed pumpkins!

Hey Ed please let us know how the traction control and launch control did at all of the events. I really wanted to take some time after each event to discuss it with you but as you know we were all doing 100 mph on our feet along with our cars. :lol

Thank You John And Don For A Great Sat. Morning At Your Facility In Sealy, Texas. Great Food, Fun And Texas Hospility With 1/4 Mile Speed Times. Your Facility Is Fantastic And Very First Class. Tomy Hamon PS And Only One 1/2 Hour From My House.

1/4 mile at Hennessey/Lone Star with the Discovery Auto TC/LC

pe2unia - I did 2 runs on the 1/4 mile strip with the DA traction control/launch control for start numbers. Then the rest of the runs were spent playing with the computer programming to fine tune it to my engine set up. My best run was a 11.1 sec - 133 mph but is was also the first time I have ever tried a 1/4 mile. I'm sure once it's dialed in & I put my Hoosiers back on (the Rally was the first time I tried my GT with the TC/LC) it should be in the high 10s - 140+ mph. My engine has been massaged by DA & I have a 17lb Gen II Whipple with 800+ RWHP.

Ed

PS Hit the LC button, floor the gas pedal, drop the clutch & hang on. I never lifted the gas pedal until past the 1/4 mile mark. The TC/LC comtrols the engine for the shifts! For detailed info you'll have to ask Shadowman as it is his system.

Thanks Hennessey!

Saturday at Hennessey's & Lone Star Raceway was a great way to finish the Rally. The lunch was, of course, a Texas bbq & fantastic. The facility is beautiful. Everyone was very polite & we had a very nice time.

Thanks John H. & gang!

Ed

oh, my do tell.

Thanks for the day John.

Did anyone beat that friggin Caddy?

That caddy was only good for a 12 second pass... I believe the best pass of the day was an 11.00 at 139... The problem was, the drivers got all nervous with the big burnouts from the Caddy.....

best times

The Hennessey twin turbo supercharged GT did the 11.0 sec 139 run while the best time of our GTs was my 11.1 sec 133 mph (I cheated since I had LC/TC). The Caddy wasn't close.

Cool. That was embarrassing that a car sponsored by AARP was beating up on a few of us.
