Why do you own it?

any drips you might want to find a shrink .... either for you or the car.

He did. He's coming to Scottsdale for a session - my guess is that he is not driving here .......... :wink

What a wonderful thread

I bought one to make up for my small unit. There, someone had to say it. :lol

4038 small units? So, group buy for Viagra?:willy

on the trail of a yellow car ... stay tuned.

Best color - hope you don't know where I live :biggrin

It's my first exotic.

Your first erotic? Hum .... I like that - an erotic car.

Maybe we could substitute a model GT for your car and give your girl a bit of exercise.

Let's see - borrowing someones GT for a bit of exercise is kinda like borrowing somebodys wife for a bit of exercise, don't you think? :eek

Hey pockets,
just wondering, is it bad for these cars to sit too much without driving? I know with my old 911 I need to periodically drive it fairly hard just to keep the seals from getting too hard and leaking, not to mention keeping the tires from going out of round from sitting.

Just wondering, I have only had my car a week.

Darned if I know, Joe. In general, "sitting" for extended periods does nothing good for any car. So, from that standpoint I'd assume the GT's arn't anymore exempt from this stuff than any other cars. I've been told by more that ONE Lambo guy that the drying gasket thing is a real pblm with those cars. I'd assume, then, that it's the same for Ferrari's too. But, I can't see why our Ford GT's would be any different than all the other Fords made, which is to say one shouldn't think that'd be an issue under normal circumstances.

In my case, my GT sits in a heated garage with other rides that arn't taken out that much either. I move all of 'em around every once in a while just on general principles ... and start 'em all now & then too.

If you're concerned with flat spotting the tires, there are "pads" you can put under 'em that are suppose to prevent that. But, I make it a point to take the GT out on the road for at least a short "putt" every month anyway(contrary to popular opinion here on The 'Forum!:lol), so I haven't bothered getting a set.

I suppose sweating all this stuff is like sweating anything else. How much energy do you wanna exert doing it?

Thanks Pockets.

I really think you need to drive it more though...It wants to be driven.

Joe:wink

Yewed be absta-tootly correct there, oh dessert dweller. 'FLYIN' all the way.

Point well taken Tom my car just has a few on the roller hahaha !

How have you been ?

You know we have been so involved in getting geared up for our viper cross country treck to Sema I haven't had a chance to even think about PRI. Its really close so the probability is high.

(Violin music here) A GT is like a bottle fine wine or good Scotch ... it's ment to be enjoyed slowly ... deliberately ... at one's leisure ... a small portion at a time ... thereby allowing one's self to experience the full measure of the creator's artwork - not guzzled down as if it were a 32 oz. "Big Gulp" at the local Seven Eleven.

Now! 'Zat thar some top drawer poetic eloquence, er whut.:rofl

Poetry - reminds of that wonderful verse:

You have some'a yore teeth, for which I am proud;
I hold my head high when we're in a crowd.

On special occasions, when you shave under yore arms,
well, I'm in hawg heaven, and awed by yore charms.

Still them fellers at work, they all want to know,
what I did to deserve such a purdy, young doe.

Like a good roll of duct tape yo're there fer yore man,
to patch up life's troubles and fix what you can.

:cheers

:lol

Now - 'at thar's down right bee-u-tee-ful, sir!

'Bout brings a tear ta muh eye, it duz...

If you think the GT is "just another car", then you should trade yours in for a BMW 750 or some other depreciating status symbol. GT's are an automotive milestone, a part of history. I would love to drive mine more often, but having restored a few cars owned by reckless previous owners, I'll be preserving mine with limited use, special high speed occassions only. For those of you racking up the miles, thanks! You are making mine (and Empty's) that much more valuable. I plan to drive no more than 1000 miles per year. I waited over forty years to get a Supercar and I won't be letting mine go to anyone while I'm on this planet. I'm not worried about having fun with it before the next owner, there won't be a next owner. You don't see Ferrari Owners racking up 15,000 miles a year (I know about the cam belts), and GT's are far more special than a 360/430. For those of you modifying their GT's, it makes for fantastic reading! Please think of original 427 Shelby's or Vette values and keep those original parts. Some day that original muffler will be worth a fortune. Everyone needs to enjoy their cars in their own way, but at least appreciate them when they are unique. We are lucky to own them.

All my point is this, the cars need to be driven periodically to maintain elasticity of seals and such. I never suggested using one as a daily driver like Clarkson did. I have also been ridiculed on the Pelican Porsche forum for not driving my 911 more. (It by the way has 38k miles and is 20 years old. I have had it since new.)

However, letting a car sit 2,3 or 4 years is, I would think, bad for it. Any of you experts feel free to correct me here, but I would be a little hesitant to buy a 2005 GT with 30 miles in 2009 if it had not been thoroughly checked out by a qualified mechanic before cranking it.

Anyway, I love to drive mine, but on sunny weekends only. And I don't mind so much about the depreciation as I also wll be dead when it is sold. I have other things I call investments.

I agree! We own the finest car the Ford has made to date. Time will tell where the market goes. With 4038 being made it will 'interesting.'.

Meanwhile the jobs numbers tomorrow will effect my investments... At least for a couple of days... Until next Monday!

...And I suppose I'll hafta buy din-din as part pmt for this "session" too, now won't I. :skep

Ya had to ask? We have group therapy here, and the group is anxiously awaiting your arrival - and you should see them eat.......... :cheers

Fine. I 'hear' yuh. I kin handle that. No problem 't'all. Uh ... 'zactly how far izzit from yur place to the nearest "mission" soup kitchen ennyway?:shrug

Your welcome!

There WILL be a next owner and I'm sure they will appreciate your keeping the car "pristine"(be it before or after your death). I definitely do not like things that depreciate. That is a very annoying word. It is nice to know that the GT is hopefulyy not in that category just in case I might need the money before my death. But I will be damned if I'm going to freak out over a door chip or a spotless undercarriage. My car may never be at Pebble Beach in my lifetime, but it keeps me smiling every minute I'm in it. GT's are "special", but my psychiatrist says I am "special" too. I truly enjoy the car and am blessed to be able to own one, but if something happened to it I could always get another one. Hmmmm.......maybe I should start looking for another one now! Hey thanks again for making me think about this. Multiple GT's.......as good as multiple orgasms?--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Everytime you drive a GT in public it brings a smile and sparks a dream not only for yourself, but for others.

The other day I saw a Porsche Carrera GT, in black, and it sounded amazing. I have only seen these driving around a couple times. On the rare occasions that I see a Saleen S7, or Bugatti Veyron, or Ferrari Enzo, or Ford GT, it makes me smile and think about how much fun the driver is having, and how lucky we are to know what it feels like to drive one of the greatest vehicles produced.

So Steve, are you offering to buy my cars?

Thought you could adopt me ... and I promise that I won't raise your insurance rates too much Dad .. I promise.

Hey it worked for Jeff .... I gotta give it a try.:biggrin

Agreed ... I put 900 miles on my car today. Had people waving and smiling ... giving thumbs up ... asked questions at every gas stop. Owning the car is part of it ... being a spokesman is another .... most people will never get a chance to see on .. much less drive one. Personally, I would rather rack up the miles and not worry about the depreciation. Since after I am dead ... which will be more valuable to me ... the hours spent in the car or the hours the car spent in my garage waiting for me to take her out for a spin?
