Why do you own it?

Zat thar is +1 Mr. Pockets, I'm feelin you now..

An' I'm slappin' yer face fer doin' that...:willy:willy:willy

I own it because I have always had a love for Ford performance cars and the GT is the ultimate Ford in my book. The car was built to drive and enjoy. I knew if I missed the opportunity to own one now that it may never come my way again. I can't justify spending a load of money just to leave it parked in the garage. I am living a dream. Thankyou Ford! :cheers

Pockets ... it was the "waxer" comment that had me rolling. :rofl:rofl

I still think that he just bought the car because he needed something more three D to play with. :biggrin

Seriously pockets... that cop is looking for you ... he has that ticket made out already. :bs

Maybe we could substitute a model GT for your car and give your girl a bit of exercise. We can always put it up on blocks and run it in reverse to get the miles off of it. I saw that in a movie once. of course thats just before it went through the wall and was totaled but .... d@mn I wasn't suppose to say that. :biggrin

I bought one to make up for my small unit. There, someone had to say it. :lol

So I suppose that you have a license plate frame that says : "Viagra" on it?

Wow, it's tough. I go back and forth. Probably put my first 1,000 miles in 6 weeks. Then I have become more protective over time. Been about a year, and about 5,000 miles. But I am becoming more, not less paranoid of the car...It's since everyone is always going crazy over it and taking pictures while they are driving and other crazy stuff.

So much fun to drive though.

With values increasing too, it makes me wonder if I should drive it so much. But of course, that's the whole point - not to save it for the next owner. Unless, of course, the next owner is your son or daughter...Maybe...

We'll see if I put more or less miles this second year. I hope it's more...

I love the stories where people are putting 10,000+ miles in a year, that's great!

The car certainly has sentimental value to me. It's my first exotic. It's all American, in many ways other than simply being built in Detroit. The car looks both old and new at the same time and...

My Grandfather and I used to work on old Mustangs all the time. We would rebuild them for money but more than that for fun (I can take apart a 289 in my sleep). He was a car nut too. I was looking for a GT in early 2006 and very excited about taking one up to see him after the purchase. He passed away later that year before I bought my GT. In his will he suggested I buy a fast Ford with the some of his money.... I already had a good one in mind. :biggrin I only wish he could have seen it.

Sense I bought the car, I don't think it has ever sat in my garage for more than a week at a time. God willing and the creek don't rise; it will be in my garage until I can offer advice in my will.

Yes it is just a car, but it can be more than that.

Fubar,

Thank you for telling us about your Grandfather ... special moments between people involving an object (cars, jewelry, fishing pole, whatever) are awesome reminders of what are the most important things in life ... love and family.... times spent together. time invested wisely.

Its the moments that I spend in the car with people that I care for that make the car special to me. My sons first ticket in the car is just one of many memories that I have.

1076 will only leave my garage via an accident or with me being buried in it. Ok maybe Chip is right Stephen would kill me if I did the later .... probably the former to. :bored

'Absolute gospel. Like I mentioned B4 - I can even give you his name. For real.

We can always put it up on blocks and run it in reverse to get the miles off of it.
And just how else do you suppose my car has so few miles on the clock now???

This 'solution' was offered B4 ... and when I responded that I'd get a LOUSY return on investment in "ticket muny saved" because my car never comes outta the garage in the 1st place - nobuddy argued with the logic!!! :lol

Had you sweating???? :lol Well that would have solved your police problem. :thumbsup

Of course I probably would have to get the car repainted since its a bit thin from the daily polishing. :biggrin

Hey pockets,
just wondering, is it bad for these cars to sit too much without driving? I know with my old 911 I need to periodically drive it fairly hard just to keep the seals from getting too hard and leaking, not to mention keeping the tires from going out of round from sitting.

Just wondering, I have only had my car a week.
