There is no doubt that integrating a Motec or ? would make the processes easier and safer on an extreme level and furthermore IMO this would be an arena within which the 4.0 Whipple would shine brightly.

maybe at one of the future rallys we can have a side by side half a mile race or something like that. I wouldnt miss that rally
Should have come to Utah. Straight is 3200 feet. Could easily run from 60-150. I hit about 175 today and that was braking way early.

And win a true racing event. Is a Rank Amateur.
The Deal is:
The top of the line “Real Performance Parts”. Will never be off- the shelf aftermarket.
And if you believe otherwise. You always finish off the podium steps.
It’s just a fact of life.
The true performance tuned package will always win the day.
Were custom developed as a one off deal.
And are just a place holder in time.
As the real performance guys (that make the big power)
Do not take the time to market off–the–shelf stuff.
They already moved on to the next performance level.
And my gut tells me Ed is on a “real performance” engine program.
That included only a limited amount off-the shelf aftermarket parts.
And was deep with solid performance engineering supplied by people that consistently win races and championships.
Think about it like this.
Would you take a crate engine to run Pro Stock class?

99% of the members here are not "real racers" so most of the stuff you referred to doesn't apply.

I think there are a lot of real racers on this site. Just not many professional ones. Being a racer (to me) is a state of mind and you either live for the thrill or you don't. Mullet, you are a real racer in my book and yes, I want to do a freeway pull... in Mexico of course.
Alex I think we all understand what you are saying about off the shelf power. This forum is unlike many in that most of the members are fortunate and/or hard working therefor have the financial ability and practical foresight to understand 'big power' must be considered and mulled over and then reconsidered because there are so many repercussions and unintended results to adding more power. 99% of the members here know that and don't move forward because it's not worth the effort to explore those results or (much more likely) they are completely satisfied with this car in it's current form.
Personally, I am part of the 1% that isn't smart enough to leave it alone.

I still hang on to the memory of a 70 MPH rolling burnout (In a stock FGT) (Please don’t try this @ home).
There is nothing like the sensation of steering to stay in front of the spinning and fish tailing rear tires. To get your attention_ quickly!
Now add real power like your car has Fubar.
And you need to be on top of your game to keep it out of the body shop.
In perspective. The first time I drove a car with a pulley that was tuned for race fuel. I remember thinking this thing is not safe for the general public (on a cold air day) it is a true weapon.
That should be treated like a 44 Magnum. Don’t pull it out if you do not intend to use it.
And things have gone wild in just a few years.
We can say thanks to John Colletti.
For having the foresight to let the guys loose. And develop a long block that will support this kind of power.

Back in the 60's, Bruce McLaren sold his McLaren Can-Am cars to many wanting buyers - he did it to finance his racing operations in both Can-Am and Formula 1. He ran 2 factory cars - driven by himself and Denny Hulme. The cars he sold were competitive - if either or both of the two factory cars failed (rarely). For quite a few years (until Penske/Porsche arrived with the 917/10 and 917/30 machines), the nickname for the Cam-Am series was called the "Bruce & Denny Show!" The designer/builders always had the latest and greatest machines.

Some folks don't know your background (I have never met you....but took the time to find out). In many instances, I wish that folks would take the time to know who is on the other end of the keyboard. They would gain a significant perspective on a topic they have found easy to wiegh in on, but have little substance from which to share an opinion. Contributors such as yourself are the goldmine that make our Forum a rare institution.

However... I have to support Shadowman’s HP claims.
We specialize professionally in BIG hp and have developed 4 different professional race engine platforms that have produced over 10 hp per cubic inch. Through that process I came to a saying … “Three C's to making HP”. Cylinder Head, Cams, and Compression… Significant head work, proper cam timing, and increased compression. All three claim to have been implemented on ED’s engine in varying doses.
Keep in mind that compression is essentially a multiplier. Keep in mind that boost is simply a measure of restriction (air that is not going through the motor)... increase the head flow and the boost will drop for a given pulley set. That motor posting 17psi may very well make 19-20 psi with stock heads/cams… point is it’s flowing more air through the motor than a stock engine at 17psi boost. Remember that that SC is taking less power to pull than a 4.0L. Keep in mind that increased compression increases the motors fuel efficiency (at all hp levels)... which supports how they got to that power level with stock fuel delivery. All sounds extremely reasonable to me and I agree that more is possible with continued mods.
Credit has to be awarded to the owner/build team in my opinion
