So with all this talk of buying a salvage car for parts .It made me think, are all Gt owners as bad as me when it comes to having a parts collection?
I know Spec racer is really bad or what I would call really good .Most people would say we just have issues!!!But thats what I love about the forum we all have Ford gt issues! I mean in a good way !After all we do have what I believe to be the coolest ,most iconic car ever made!
My parts bin;
3 sets of wheels
seats
center tunnel
complete underside panels
side skirts
side air intakes
front facia
rear facia
head lights
rear lights
hood
trunk liner
rear diffusserx2
front spoilerx2
inner fender skirts
Stillen clutch
plus a bunch more I can't even think of.
I think between Spec racer and myself all we need is a frame, fenders, harness and windshield to finish a 2nd car!!
We will take a donation!!!

That's impressive.... IMO, the best parts bin is a second GT.

Yes, to both statements.

But you should have got two of the same color so that a repaint wouldn't be needed. :lol

I think Apple lovers also get two of each.

Guys, this is a really good question. And if I could tweak it just a little, I'd ask what kind of parts would you anticipate to replace in the future as routine in the life cycle of the car. As the FCSD Buyer assigned to Ford GT Service Parts it will help me identify and plan for a continued supply for the future.

Head lights
seals and weather stripes
tail lights
vents for clamb
wheels but cheaper than 7000 for a set, when motorsport would sell them for 3800 a set....This is crazy and i know its not your fault.
Suspension pieces are always going to be in demand. A-arms, uprights.
gauges ones that don't fail:) JK
rear diffusers
That should be a good start to a list.

Jerry - Goodyear F1 Tires--- in particular getting Goodyear to mfr brand new ones. Or some other mfr to make rear tires to the spec that FoMoCo/SVT has established for our Ford GT's.

I purchased 2 "brand new" rears yesterday, with date code of 02-06. Through my Ford Dealer. Who found them via Dealer Parts Locator system.

the date code is the same as the tires that were on the GT when I bought it in 3/06.

However the Ford pricing on these tires exceeds the list price for the same tire if purchased from The Tire Rack. Where it is currently out of stock.

The current Ford pricing for the rear tires is $622.95 list for part #9001*3890251*28. My first set of replacement rear tires in late 2006 cost about $325.00 for the same tire.

I understand the cost of warehousing and distribution but in 4 years it certainly could not have "cost" nearly $300 per tire in incremental expense.

And this is for a tire that cost Ford about $100.00 when originally purchased from Goodyear.

As you mentioned to me and others at the Rally, you have some influence over the Ford GT parts pricing automated system. Please, in behalf of all Ford GT owners, look into 1) getting new tires manufactured and (2 adjusting the tire pricing to a "reasonable and fair" price.

Thanks in advance for your assitance in this matter.

The tire issue has been raised to FCSD Marketing team and they are working with the Production Purchasing team to address availability and pricing (Our Service Division does not buy tires, that is controlled by Production) No timeline yet as there is still a worldwide shortage of rubber. Google "Rubber Shortage" and look at all of the articles. Availability affects pricing, age old adage of "supply & demand". Not a great answer but I did raise the point with the marketing team in a meeting 3 weeks ago with A. Benedict in attendance. It is now on Management's radar.

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for bringing this to the fore front. I remain hopeful that a rear tire solution will be found.
