From a product liability standpoint, Ford took a huge risk building the GT without all of the available electronic safety systems, and I am extremely happy they did. It is truly a driver's car.

Not a huge risk. The Ford GT is reasonably safe for it's intended use. The legal standard. I am very familiar with how Ford designs cars and and it's safety record. I am happy to say I have represented the company and the company, its engineers, designers et al take safety very seriously. Good people. I agree with you they made a wonderful driver's car.

I also think this thread shows the interest folks have in the GT-R. Even though it is not my cup of tea I would be lying if I said I didn't check it out closely when it went on sale.

The GTR is so fast because Nissan has largely removed the driver from the operation of the vehicle. Just point and shoot. No clutch modulation, no missed shifts, just perfect, repeatable sub 3 second launches so simple my daughter could do it. No doubt the car is a technological achievement that has the added benefit of being a bargain, but at what point are people sitting in the left front seat called "operators" rather than "drivers"? We all like to go fast, but I would hope we all like to drive as well.

i thought Godzilla didn't need traction control :lol

traction control is for girls....

Is the 2000 GT the car that was in one of the Bond films as a white ROADSTER/convert (driven by a dame in only 1 or 2 scenes)???

Yes it was, though it was the only one to be chopped into a convertible, ....................so you could see James chat up the dolly!

Pretty impressive - this is with no mods? Hell, that destroys the average GT driver on the strip - LOL. Basically, just engage launch control, nail the throttle and go, right?

I think there are some that are real performance bargains .We all have an opinion on this.
Mine top 3 .

2. NISSAN GTR (2012)
3. BOSS 302 LAGUNA SECA
Ok I am bias.I have all 3.

Not sure about performance bargains, but after the GT - I like the McLaren MP4, Audi R8, Ferrari Scuderia and GTR (yes).
I like most cars. If money were no object, would have lots of toys around to play with.

Define "bargain".

If that definition MAINLY (or solely) deals with $$$$$$ relative to performance ("bang for the buck"), there's no question the C6 ZO6 has to be in that group...and arguably at the top of it. After that, from a $$$$$ standpoint, the (gulp) GT-R would be #2, and the Viper would be #3 (the FGT would be out of the "top 3" because of its price! No question it IS a bargain compared to other EXOTICS, but, we be talking BARGAIN bargain here). If a bit of "practicality/versatility" is tossed into the definition of "bargain", the GT-R would have to be (ugh) #1 (back seat) and one of Porsche's 'I-have-a-back-seat (sort of)' models would need to be #2, and the C6 would be #3 JUST BECAUSE of its price relative to performance - 'lack of back seat be darned.

That's muh story 'n' I'm stickin' to it...

yep, bone stock..... ran it at the drag strip last night, 11.07 @ 124.45 MPH with 1,117 DA, 73 degrees out, the VBOX recorded 0-60 MPH in 2.8 seconds and 1.19 G's off the line....

I think this evolved into a really interesting thread. I'd like to see it take another branch: Top three *Classic American* Thrill/Investment Cars You'd Want In Your Garage. I'll start it as a new thread, though and look forward to the answers.

I like the looks of the 370Z better as well. It justs needs the GTR motor.
