To bumper delete or not to bumper delete

Guys, I am trying to decide whether to bumper delete.

What are the cons? What are the pros?

Do you think it will adversely affect the resale value?

Whose kit is best?

Can you guys post pics of your bumper deletes. Any Mark IV reds with bumper deletes out there? Any pics would be appreciated.

Thanks

These deletes seem to be easily reversible, resale should be no problem. I had an accident with my GT that made me happy to have the bumper. Turned a big problem into a little one.

Do a search. There was a discussion on it about a year ago. Many came to the conclusion that insurance carriers may not honor a claim without the bumper installed. I would double check with your insurance company if you would be covered. It does look awesome without the bumper though.

you can't have a profile as sexy as this with the bumper.....:biggrin

^^ I agree, that is sexy but a bumper does have it's benefits :wink

Ya, like where are you going to put all those "Ferrari for lunch, etc" bumper stickers?

PS My bumper is gone by the way!

Somelee: Thats not fair!

That thing looks awesome!

Damn!:willy Now I'm really confused!

If my agent says its covered. Its gone!

Anyone have pics of a red GT with bumper delete?

:cheers

Just picture how fulgy it would look to tack a bumper similar to our own onto the back of a 'vette C6. FUGLY! I think the difference is DRAMATIC. Camilo has the bumper delete - 'nuf said?

thanks guys........yeah I guess insurance would really be a factor for some.......as far as damage goes....it seems to me that there aren't too many things low enough to even hit where the bumper is.........maybe if you back into something......or another super low car hits you.......in the end (no pun intended) ......I beleive this is how the car was meant to look.....so it was a no brainer.........but thats just my opinion.......whatever you decide...you can take comfort in knowing you have one of the greatest cars ever made..............with or without the bumper. :biggrin

Here are some bumperless shots. I think it makes the car look much better.

thanks!....yours too!....I mean yours two! :cheers

Wow, they look great. I too am rethinking. Can someone redirect me to the contact for the delete kit? Was it the GT Guys?

I have the Classic Concepts Design bumper delete kit. Just had it put on. The fit of the replacement "horns" was so-so. Lots of fiddling and drilling of holes in the horns to get them to fit right. The new bezel around the exhaust tips had to be trimmed so that my Ida catbacks wouldn't rub. The small piece of trim above the pipes had to be painted which was a bit of a PITA. The final product looks good, but it seems the GT guys kit would be easier to install since the rear trim is all mesh.

PHXGT,

I sell the CDC kit and you can find it, prices and pics on my website. I have installed 5 of the CDC kits and I have found that there quaity is very good. As ByeEnzo mentions, I know their horns fit on tight (which I prefer) but I have never had to drill or file. I guess it is like everything else, after you do it once or twice there are a couple of little tricks to make it easier. I prefer the aesthetics of the CDC kit and this is mainly because of the painted panel - but then again you do have to go the extra step to have it painted. This is a two step process as you need to get the base paint on, fit the panel, and then mark the stripes for exact match-up in alignment.

PM me if you want to discuss. I'll try to post a few pictures tonight from home.

Bumper delete on both of my cars... Jason installed it and it is perfect...

Wouldn't have it any other way :banana

Boy am I in the minority. I really like the look of the rear bumper, and I think Camilo did a fine job with its design. I guess I just like the fact that it's the way it was "born" from the factory and so I have that "look" as a base "paradigm value." If you examine the contour of the bumper, it's aligned with all angles of the body - credit to Camilo. However, having said all that, if the factory offered with or without....I'd have to take without. Go figure. Bottom line for me is, the bumper will stay. BTW, MK2 -GT, I think your FGT cars are drop dead gorgeous.

bumper design

I always thought the bumper was not part of the design process. It doesn't show up until close to production and only because Ford had to include it. Camilo & the boys didn't want it!

Peak,

Jason who?

Do the GT Guys also have a kit?

my vote is to remove the butt bar. 1076 will be without it soon.
