The Ford GT... Is Coming Back!

'Not possible to make even the most preliminary guess price-wise on the hypothetical FGT w/o knowing faaaaar more about it than we do now...which is next to nothing.

That, however, hasn't prevented me from making a guess as to where the new mid-engine 'Vette might be price-wise: $170K "base"...depending upon just what equipment the base price actually includes.

'Got' nothing scientific to base that on. 'Just my gut feeling based on a combo of what the FGT's "base" was ten years ago and what I think the traditional, hardcore 'Vette loyalist might be willing to fork over for a mid-engine unit.

Well, the cats out of the bag and he is planning on being very expensive.

Every test of current Astons I see says their technology is circa 2006

From transmissions to suspensions to engine mapping it's behind

Who cares. It's gorgeous! :bow

Interesting. Inside info, speculation or more rumor?

Would it matter to you if not made in the USA? But in the UK?

Key word is 'rendering'. It wouldn't/couldn't look like that.

It looks strikingly similar/exactly like the Aston Martin DBC concept, no? If this did ever make it into production in this guise, sign me up!!!

Most beautiful car ever!!!!

Go sit in and drive one - stunning, gorgeous, yes!

Modern up-to-date technology, ABSOLUTELY NOT!

I was close to buying an all black 2014 Vantage 2 months ago, brand new for 108k CDN, which was a great deal. Then I drove it - total absolute junk ride. Hell, even the interface on the pop-up Garmin GPS was like 6 years old. The car has a very harsh, bone jarring ride...

The paddle shift transmission had a defect in that is was slipping badly between 1/2 and 2/3...talk about annoying. I passed on the car.

That transmission is 100% correctly how they work....crap

Clarkson calls it the "sea sickness" mode

Its been like that since '02 Vanquish; their solution was offering ZF 6sp manual on last 100 Black series

Aston....has no money basically

The "investors" who bought it are NOT car guys and have no idea of the $$$$ necessary to keep auto-technology up to date

Even the new Jaguar owners have passed them in innovation.

Their DBS = DB9 = Vanquish, duplicate model / badge swapping lineup is a travesty

Regardless, it's still awfully purrrrrrrrdy.

+1. FGT era AMs (with mt) are a compelling buy. I see them here from time to time and they are drop dead gorgeous. I can put up with a lot just to look at it. I want one.

Damn, I hate to agree with EP, but he's right on!

500 units a year. What is your guess? Pricing is more likely between 458 and LaFerrari than between Z06 and ZR1++

That's the good news.

A hot body only goes so far..

Look at '04 Vanquish prices today...1/2 of GTs MSRP and <1/3 of todays GT value

GTs magic was exotic mid-engine design, cutting-edge components, (Ricardo, Bullet proof engine) and vision to spend on rights things.

They could have literally used the Vanquish flappy -sea paddles right on the GTs parts bin Vanquish steering column AND we would all be lamenting that.

Key is GT designers knew what is right v. artifice.

I think Ford should use the Mangusta as the next model

That design screams "Back to the future 4" you will have about 15 minutes of shelve life left.
The FGT is that once in a lifetime design with no expiration date!
