Texas Mile

No broken bones for Joe in the camaro! Sounds like hit is just bruised up some and no head injuries!

That's great news.

Guys, the Camaro crash was horrible. We have been racing those guys day in and day out for years. Hearts and prayers are with Joe and Amber tonight. Kelly Bise and all the gang are great people and hate to see something like that happen. We are done for the weekend and will leave with our 267.6 pass along with a half mile of 217mph. Thanks a bunch for Kevin Kesterson of Hennessey Motorsports for all his hard work on the car, John Mihovetz for a great engine, Shane T for an unbelievable tune on the car and no doubt the pilot of the car Patrick O'Gorman who only making 5 passes in the car and turning an incredible speed of 267.6 mph on his fifth pass ever in this Ford GT is so incredible I cant say "Thanks" enough!!!!!

I hope the camaro driver is ok..

Congrats on making them change the Texas Mile logo again Mark. Great job to everyone that keeps the project going, and Ford GT on the top of the heap.

:cheers

Is it just my imagination or does the surface have some undulation? Just the way the sound of the car hiccups sounds like it might be bouncing around a bit, which would make it seem like on a smoother surface it could really bust out.

Camaro driver was beat up but overall OK. Says he's checking out of the hospital today. Sounds like the car flipped 8 times before catching on fire. A sobering reminder of how close to the limit the pursuit of speed can be.

It's amazing he's alive at all. Absolutely miraculous. And, he's checking out of the hospital today? Thank God. Just remarkable.

Congratulations on another great run, Mark! :thumbsup :thumbsup

We are on way home now with a great run this morning of 203.7 mph . Conditions were excellent as weather was cooler
And we had a tailwind. Our goal was 200 and with a 203.7 we are very happy. Thanks go out to Rich, Dennis, Torrie and
Dallas Performance and also a huge thanks to my brother Charlie who has always helped with all my racing endeavors

Ford GT s Rock !!! This was my first Mile event and I really had fun and will definitely be going back

Good job Steve. Feels good to get that 200 mph club t-shirt.

Texas Mile said the pizza man went 230 mph today. Nice work from the guys from Alberta.

Congrats to all that have broke new personal and the TX mile records. A few more blower only cars into the 200 mile club! Not easy to do in the standing mile, the conditions have to be right and the driving error free.

I guess we can say the Pizza man delivers the goods! :thumbsup

what kind of mods does the Pizza man have? Turbo's or a Supercharger?

Kenny Bell blower with meth injection. Do a search on MRL's posts.

This was my first Texas Mile. What a blast! After qualifying on Friday afternoon my goal was to get above 180 I've got a stock engine with only upgrades being a FRRP exhaust, FRRP cat delete pipes, a standard off the shelf Torrie tune for 93 octane fuel and Bridgestone tires. Goning into this I was thinking I'd be lucky to break 180. On my second run on Saturday morning I got 182.5with final run in the late afternoon dropping to 179.9. I made it to 180 and I started thinking maybe I can get to 185. Not sure what I needed to do to gain more speed as I felt my foot was planted on the floor my previous runs. I decided that although it was a long shot I would use the "special" super speed blue tape to tape up some of my seams on the car. I also decided to push a little further into the red portion of the rpms to see if that would help.

I was the first Ford GT in line at the mile grid this morning and was thinking with these weather conditions this was going to be my best chance at getting to 185. I posted a 187.3 run with a 156.2 at the half on this run. What a great feeling to get to and beat my goal. For a fairly stock car I could not ask for more. The only place I could see improving would be on my launches and trying to gain a few more mph before the half.

Great to see Steve at the mile, meet his brother and watch Steve get his 200 mph badge. Also great to get to know Dolph, his friend and Kevin and his wife. Hopefully there will be many more Texas Mile runs in my future.

Magic 187.3 is a fantastic speed for a with only a stock blower and stock pulley! :thumbsup

When I did the TX during the Rally I had a Whipple and managed only 188. It was a very HOT day. :ack

First and foremost I am glad the Camaro driver is okay. It is great to know that people are not just trying to build fast cars but safe cars as well. Seeing those pics brings up thoughts I really don't like to have.

Second Congrats to Mark H, Sean and their whole team. What an accomplishment!! Way to keep raising the bar. :thumbsup:thumbsup

I am happy for the others who reached new personal bests. It may sound strange but if this is your passion you go .1mph faster than your best it is a successful weekend. .1mph slower and you are grumbling until the next time you can compete.

Yeah Magic kicked some butt this morning with his Heritage with his 187.3.

Unfortunately Dolph's car developeed an electrical gremlin of some sort or he would have sure busted 200 mph also.

As always with the GT's the comaraderie was great as Gary (Magic) Dolph and Mike and Charlie and I all hung out together and had a great time. The GT's attracted lots of attention as usual too

We hung out with the Pizza car folks a good bit too as they were a great group also (They kept providing us with beer in the evenings too)

Getting to watch the Hennesey car in person was incredible to see

The event was very well run and the weather of course went our way today

All in all a fantastic three days

I meant stock blower and stock pulley. I will edit my post.

Congratulations Gary on your runs and speeds. Isn't it now great that you discovered that oil leak and replaced those axle bolts and didn't go to the Texas Mile and break down? Good timing and glad that it worked out.
