Well, as stated in the beginning of the article, no surprise, but still a bummer. Too bad the last gen just wasn't that great.

I always enjoyed driving a Viper (the 1st gen was my favorite) but will admit the last one I drove (a 2016 I believe) had the single worst throttle response of any car I've ever driven. Ever.

Guess I will keep my 2006 VOI 9 Viper a while to see what the pricing does... It is the favorite of the 9 I have owned over the years... Have not driven it for some time though. Love the GT WAY to o much.... Seem to drive all of my rides but the Viper.

I bet it will be back redesigned in 2-3 years as before. Here come all the models Version 2.0 as in 2010 (snake skin green, Voodoo edition, Laguna Seca edition, etc)

Hope they figure out a better strategy and a car that blows us away.

It was certainly expected, even anticipated that the announcement would be every year since Fiat took over.

I wonder what Bondurant will do now that he has shifted to the Dodge products. The high end classes used to be Z06 or similar Corvettes now Vipers.

Sad to see it go away, I think they made a couple of mistakes IMHO. They disappeared for about 5 years then came back with the new model:
Looks like the old model.
Got beat by the 5 year older ZR1 at Laguna Seca

Viper has been on a death watch for years. I had a bunch of them, including an 09 and two 10s, one a Final Edition ( look me up on sucker list).

The car never replicated its initial splash. The first two Gens 92/96 was the high water mark. The car never recovered after 03. The Gen 5 in 2013 was simply a copy of Gen 2 with modern luxury more power, and a price tag which would not hold.

It is a wonderful story of perseverance by Lutz, Gale, et which may never be duplicated . I can't imagine selling my Lutz VIN 00002, even though it just sits on a lift.

I have a 92 and 03. I keep debating selling the 03 but it's a Heffner TT that was recently updated totally by Nth Moto. With the AEM Infinity and 12 levels of traction control and boost control it reminds me and scares me like my Cobra but with all the modern amenities. Everytime I want to sell it, I drive it and change my mind.

In all fairness, a Viper ACR holds the production lap record at Laguna Seca.

Was looking around Gerry Wood Dodge site and saw someone spec'd this car and it's already sold. Anyone on here? I assume the only factory Gulf Car made.

I have seen one other all blue like this. Apparently, that dealership ordered 150 final year cars. Risky for now

may be a good move if they plan on keeping them for 20 years or more.

My guess is they will still have a bunch when the "new" 2020 Viper comes out.

If this article is correct... 2017 will be the last model year Viper.

Unless they come back a year or 2 later with a new model like they tried before. I think they missed a big opportunity when they stopped production a few years back and came out with a more retro look rather than a more super car look. That is when I lost interest in the car. I still have 1 of the 9 Vipers I owned and it is my favorite of all of them. It's a 2006 VOI9 Special Edition white with blue stripes with a wing and splitter and special badging given only to a few of the Vipers delivered to Vegas during Viper Owners Invitational that year.

Ohhh I know what they say... said in 2008...2010....2017.

I've had 4 Vipers.

I just believe the Viper will be back either to compete with the Corvette or try to go supercars status. I think the more costly the Viper got, the market got smaller and smaller. I think middle of road sports car would be good with the high end ACR as the high end. All the "special editions aren't that special!

I have every generation of ACR built, and a 2014 T/A, and have owned many more. The Vipers always produced big grins, and I will keep my four for a long time. Remember when Dodge killed the Viper in 2011? Let's wait and see what Fiat has in store for the future.

Your special car is my all-time favorite of all the special editions I have owned, this is the one that got away!
