Is anyone using non OE transaxle fluid? I'm asking as the required 4 quarts (liters) of Motorcraft XT-75W90-QGT fluid is not available in Australia. I may import some but just wanted to know if there is a major manufacturer equivalent.

Not to my knowledge. Also most, if not all on this forum would recommend only using the recommended Ford oil.

No substitute is recommended.
This is a propriatary fluid blended by Riccardo for our transaxle application and packaged by Ford.
I am sure Torrie would be happy to ship you some.
If you are a FGT owner send Chip your car VIN and specifics so he can register you as an owner.
Welcome!

I can ship you 4 quarts - always have it in stock. PM me if you are interested.

Sorry Kendall! You too!
Torrie usually picks up on these requests pretty fast.
I will remember you as well next recommendation...

Yep Kendall and I are both here to help out and both stock it !

Ferraro, if you have a transmission cooler it will take almost 5 quarts. Better get a spare too.

Thanks, I will PM those that may have it. I was planning on getting 8 or possibly 10 quarts to allow for a future fluid change and cooler addition.

Thanks

Has anyone ever used a transmission additive to enhance shifting when cold or very hot? I get a sticking problem when my tranny is hot and I am shifting into reverse.

Read up on linkage adjustment

Should be smooth as silk

Snap - if you have the short throw shifter with the metal bushings, this is not unusual.

If you never changed the fluid I would start there with fresh OEM fluid and checking the linkage adjustment.

.....except for those 1 - 2 shifts when cold!

+1

1st to 2nd gear shifts virtually gone after fluid change.

I'm told ELF Tranself Synthese LSD 75W90 works. I'm just about to do a change using it here in New Zealand since the OE stuff is not available.
Also trying Mobil 1 5W50 supersyn for the engine since also can't get the OE oil here.
