Rally 8 Scheduled September 3-7, 2013

Chip -

Is it OK if I don't make the Rally-to-the-Rally this year?

It just doesn't seem logical to drive to Arizona and then back home....

Ralphie

Ralphie,

To quote our Moderator Emeritus Daniel Bonyhadi who also lived in your neck of the woods, "All Rally's begin in Scottsdale Arizona". Daniel drove from Fresno to Scottsdale and then back to LA with us to Rally II.

I missed the first 7 rallys - might be able to make this one - not a track guy so this would be perfect for me.

You should check out DenBeste motorsports (big Cobra dealer with a good collection to boot) while you're up there. He's in Windsor, CA. Also a winery.

Dave/Ed sounds awesome and looking forward to driving the GT on incredible Northern Cali roads and seeing everyone and thanks guys for putting this together

I'm in.
Start the list with my name DBK.

Mrs. Moose and I schedule our vacations every January, I cant believe it !! We absolutely nailed this week for rally VIII. We are in, with GT:driving: We have had the good fortune of attending every rally except VII. Life is much better hanging out with the best group of automobile owners there are. (Anybody know where we can get a rally VII shirt:lol)

No track day, spectacular roads with indescribable beauty all around, experiencing all this with the best car group on the planet - and a cooking class - in Napa!?!! Holy eggbeaters, Batman – have I died and gone to heaven?
Wow, wow, wow!! Soooo looking forward to Rally 8!

Yeah start with Frank, first name on the list buys the drinks

Although I have my son's wedding the week prior at a winery in the Canadian Rockies and the gt will be making that scenic trip, I think we can manage to fit another cruise in.....hopefully the timing works.

As everyone starts thinking about making their plans for this year's Rally, I could volunteer to assemble a SoCal to Norcal mini-rally. I've done this before. One of the most memoprable drives of all times was when I had the pleasure to lead a group of ~35NSXs from Northern Los Angeles County (near my house) up to a Acura-sponsored Laguna Seca track event. We had a spectacular time at Laguna Seca and Acura was incredible hosts at the time but everyone who participated in the SoCal to NorCal drive said that it was by far the most rewarding part of the entire event.

As such, it would be my objective to assemble a 1-day, un-forgettable drive/scenic venue so that not only all of the SoCal contingent would want to participate - but many would find the venue so compelling they would opt to ship their cars to SoCal for a starting point. The drive would be a mixture of some very nice, windy, scenic drives on some very un-populated roads and eventually ending up over on the coastal highways of 101 and 1 up through Monterey and through downtown Carmel, etc.

Interest?

Sounds fun ! Could possibly ship my car to S.Cal as a starting point.

I'm looking forward to celebrating Specracer's birthday in Napa!

The SoCal to NorCal drive that nota4re is describing is the drive we did, opposite directions, for Rally II. It was one of the finest, beautiful drives I have ever done. If you have the chance to do it you won't be disappointed.

Sandman & RaptorGuy have 1-2 private open track days at Thunderhill every year so I will post the dates when they are determined so anyone interested can join us. I can tell you that DBK & I, especially DBK, spent hours trying to get a track day that would work with our cars & schedule. It wasn't meant to be this time. The fun, legal, safe drives we have planned will make up for it & more!

6 months to go so start planning!

Rally VIII Ed

I would be interested.

Kendall, I'm definitely up for a caravan, but I would be joining you somewhere in the middle. I can shoot west and maybe a bit south to rendezvous with the group. As much as I love driving the car, I don't think I want to go all the down to SoCal just to come back up north:)

Kendall, I'm in for the drive......great idea......GO BLU

Tremendous thanks to Dave and Ed for their work in putting together R8. I can live without track time for a year - or I could go to Mojave a month after the Rally. Either way, I'm looking forward to seeing my old friends and meeting new ones.

And Kendall, thanks for organizing the migration. It sounds like great fun. I will be there.

Aloha,

Dave

Count the wife and I in for the R8. We're up for driving, trailering or shipping. We've been to many of the Viper Club VOI rallys, but this will be our first Ford GT rally. About how many cars show up for these? Is there a host hotel designated and do we make all our own arrangements?

Dolph

2 days until the Texas Mile

Dave will post all details and plans in the future.
