Really......When I head out on a Sunday i do a 50 miler, now I,am about 7 miles from home just coming into Scottdale on Scottsdale road. I was one light north of Bell rd coming up to bell road when i noticed a police car rolling north on Scottsdale rd, I,am heading south.
While waiting for the light I see the police did a u-turn and now was two cars behind me at the light. I,am thinking &uck I hope its not me I wasn't speeding.. well maybe a hair over. I come off the light since i was in the middle lane and get i get into the right lane. He is now bwhind me and lights me up!
I pull over and I get out and the policeman says" do you know why I pulled you over" I say no, no idea at all, he says you threw a cigarette from your car. i stated no way I dont smoke, do you want to smell my breath or check my car? I give him my Ins doc,s and he comes back and says nice car and says this is a FORD? I said yes an 05 Ford GT the fastest Ford they make.
So he then gives me back my info and I get my ASS home before anymore surprises!!!!
This is the second time in Scottsdale I have been pulled over, they must think LOOK at that car he must be speeding or something....I dont like scares like this!!
OK happy driving for everyone else, mines in the garage for another week or two.maybe three...Billy
PS: The only smoke from my car is the TIRES.. :)

While most police are good guys I had a BS cop pull over in March that resulted in a ticket that I had to hire a lawyer to get dismissed. :frown He asked me the same question as yours to which I responded the same as you. "I have no idea what you pulled me over for?" :lol

His response made my eyes almost fall out of my head. :eek :willy :willy

DO NOT let the haters get you down!! Keep enjoying and driving your GT as much as possible. That pull over I had did not affect my driving habits one bit. :cheers

Only ticket I have received in 20 years happened last Easter Sunday, on a baby food run:biggrin. Cars ahead of me, cars behind me, cop coming the opposite direction pulls me over and tickets me for doing 50 in a 40:bored. Since I was in traffic wasn't paying that close attention to the speedo; maybe, maybe not. Why me? Got my answer, after the usual license and insurance shtick the 20 yr old cop stated "never been this close to a car like this afore":bs. No biggie, for an extra fee I went to "driving school" so that the offense wouldn't show up on my insurance.

Previously I held LEOs in the same regard as those who serve. Now, at least around here, I see them for what they are; money making machines for the local gov't.:thumbsdow

Do I seem bitter?:rofl It's a beatiful day, I'm goin driving!:banana

to which I'd have added, "But, aren't you gunna THANK me for pulling over?"

He comes back and says nice car and says this is a FORD? I said yes an 05 Ford GT the fastest Ford they make.

Well now, ya see, MEBBE that wasn't the smartest way you kudda described the car under THOSE particular circumstances!!! :lol

I've always been amazed at the variety of UNMARKED, "stealth" cars the S.P.D. has. Also how many of 'em are just plain RIDICULOUS! I mean, JEEPS, for Pete's sake????

The 1st time I ever saw any P.D. use non standard cars - especially things like CORVETTES - was in Hawaii in the early 70"s. 'Had never SEEN something like that before! 'Don't know if I'da pulled over for one or NOT.

IMO, there's just something IMMORAL about P.D.'s running NON STANDARD ghost cars...:skep

I've been pulled over several times over the years for that exact same reason. 'Can't really BLAME the LEO for wanting to take a close-up look...but, at the same time, his DOING so makes the person pulled over look like John Dillinger reincarnate to those passing by, and THAT irritates me to no end.

All patrol cars ought to have wunna those "reader board" signs across its package tray that can be lit up to read: "No violation. I'm just looking". :bored

I will just add it is unusual for LEO to visit one's garage without a warrant, but I guess they made an exception in your case.

EP - In Hawaii it was, in some jurisdictions, not unusal for the officer to furnish his own "police vehicle" and they were paid for it's useage.

Not sure if this is still the way it was, but it certainly made for some real unusual cop cars.

I ws told that currently in Washington (the State) there are something like 30 or more different unmarked State Patrol vehicles.

From Volvo wagons to lifted fwd pickups w/33's and even a Kenworth!

Be careful out there -

I've lived in Scottsdale for 54 years. It sure has changed. The "West's Most Western Town" has always been the city's motto but it doesn't fit anymore. Hundreds of traffic cameras and oppressive taxation here in AZ have me looking forward to a new home in Texas if I ever get a decent opportunity to bail out of my business here. Or perhaps Wyoming would be a good place to ride out the coming economic tsunami.

Oh, please, tell me you're KIDDING about the Kenworth and the lifted P/U's !!!!!!!! WE HAFTA PAY THE FUEL BILLS ON THOSE SLEDS.

Here where I live, the city PD has TWO full size 4X4 SUVs (marked). Now, WHY ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH the local PD needs even ONE of 'em for CITY PATROL is a total mystery to me. If they belonged to the THE COUNTY SHERIFF'S office, maybe I could see it..but, THE CITY PD?

(BTW, now that you mentioned it, I DO seem to remember that business about the LEO's on Oahu using their OWN cars as patrol units.)

Kevin,

I'm positive that I will enjoy paying lower taxes! :biggrin The difference between what I pay here in AZ and what I would have paid in Texas would have purchased another Ford GT. Those of you in CA could have bought a Matech GT!! :thumbsup

Wyoming Winters are brutal, aamzingly cold points and a definite negative for the all year driving wish every FGT owner embraces. California is worse than Arizona for the economics of all year living with a progressive socialist-communist legislature, bankruptcy, enormous taxation, etc.... Texas has definite potential.

Wow...maybe some of these "snow birds" do have the right idea. And while I'm not sure I want to spend my summers in Montana, maybe a residence there makes sense if I choose to move to So Cal? I'm definitely not staying in AZ the rest of my life! Anyone know what the taxation is like in Hawaii? =)

BTW - AZ Cops are interesting. I've had an awful lot of "lit lights" behind me when driving hot cars in Scottsdale. It seems that many of the cops want to check out the vehicle and tell me to keep in slow or take it easy while out. If I get a ticket it's for the stupid reason...like window tint!!!

1. Black Lambo Gallardo - saw two HP while leaving Flagstaff and kept it within speed limits for that reason. Knew they would come up on me. Sure enough, 15 miles down the road they come up. I was like "ha"...I knew it...lights came on...ticketed for window tint!

2. Maserati Quattroporte - V1 kicked in on I17, slowed down (although I was only maybe 8-10 over), cop comes cruising up on my tail. Pulls me over for window tint and slaps me a ticket.

Here's the crazy part about #2...I forget to pay the $90 ticket. And a couple months later I get a noticed that they revoked my license...FOR WINDOW TINT! A few days later, about $150, and most annoying, several trips and hours of work I get my license back. Lesson learned...pay the ticket on time.

We don't NEED window tint up here :biggrin, so, tickets for that aren't written too often. The big "Mickey Mouse" ticket of choice up here is for no front plate.

No tint needed while in the garage.
