Pricing

How low does everyone think the GT market will go (buyers/market watchers and sellers have different hopes)? I'd like a Ford GT but 150-160k is out of my range. Now 130's with a couple thousand miles may fit the ticket.

I would think that if you want to buy, do it now. Like ASAP. This represents the nadir of pricing for a low miles car. I would bet that if you looked hard enough you could find a red or white car with 10,000+ miles for 140k right now.

Everything is relative, for a low mileage unmolested uncrashed Ford GT to be so low as to be in the 130's, a lot of other undesirable things are going to be occurring in the economy. Frankly, I hope that doesn't happen - for the sake of the economy.

I do hope you find a way to get the car though, but I'd rather it be because you and the economy are doing well, so that $150K+ is affordable.

I truely do not want the general economy to go into the crapper to be able to afford a GT. If it does then any amount paid for a GT would be to high to lock up into a car. That being said car prices have always been 1 parts economy and 2 parts emotion.

So you are saying you think FGT prices will appreciate?

Even ignoring the current economic climate, IMHO normal FGTs will continue to depreciate. Now add in the probability that we are in for a long downturn, and I'd guess that prices will drop noticeably even in the next 6 months. Maybe not down to the 130s but they will get there eventually!

Collector quality cars excepted.

I missed this little detail in my earlier response. I doubt you will see 130s with just a couple thousand miles in the short term.

January car auction scene in Arizona will be a major tell on how the market is headed.
Just reviewed the Gstad Bonhams Auction and prices and way down.

No. I said low miles. High mileage cars and drivers are always going to get cheaper. Pristine garage queens will not.

Only true gauge is completed sales. eBay and other bs is irrelevant.

High prices are low miles cars still on mso and savage title GTs set the low bar. I know of one forum member that got a smoking deal on a 50K+ mile GT at only a little more than some wanted for a savage title car.

Good luck with your search. In addition to the advice above, a lot depends on the color that you want as well the mileage. Are you picky or will any color do. For me I had to have the color I wanted and the condition I wanted. Patience is the key. You can find what you want, but it may take some time.

I am usually a price shopper and like to find a good deal, however when you are spending this kind of money you really want to be happy. An extra 20K could be money well spent in the long run. :cheers

if you can afford 130k you can afford 150k.

buy now.

Sell something (anything) to come up with extra $20K cash

Can you find a ford GT for $130K? Yes. Will it be a low mileage, perfect, no story car..... Probably not. There are always deals out there. You just got to find them. If you are not that picky, there are a few cars already in your price range, but if you are set on a certain color, low miles, perfect history chances are you are gonna have a hard time finding the right car. All the best of luck in your search and if there is anything I can do to help, please give me a call anytime at 1-870-931-8004

I hope we will be welcoming you to the owners circle soon!

I agree. If you are looking for a collector car, now is the time to buy. OP doesn't seem to be looking for that.

Yeah but in my opinion this is the cheapest the collector's are going to get, and they are close enough to the drivers that I would spring for the difference. If it were me, I'd spend an extra 10-20k and get a newer car while I could.

Mileage it a matter of mind.....,It only matters if you mind!!!!
Ask any fgt owners with mileage.

What Shelby said. Be patient and finding one for 135ish is possible; just might be higher mileage and not your first color choice.

Id pretty much agree. The biggest thing with mileage is future resale. Its not like a Lambo where Id be worried about stuff breaking all the time if it had 15k+ miles on it.

Just saw on '05 black/silver, 4500 mile, 4 option for $144,500. Dealer out east in high end stuff, ad is in Hemmings. Surprised by price, makes me wonder if there's a story.

Pbly so. But that's just conjecture.

'COULD be "the story" is the dealer just needs the money...
