I just got to Fairmont, came early to relax, nice weather as always. Looking forward to the rally .....

Only managed 20 miles today. Breckenridge to Boreas Pass and back with my older brother. Ten miles up (3% grade up) and 10 down. Was an old narrow gauge rail road. Off to Salt Lake City in the Morning, tired of rain and cold.

What should have been a spectacularly scenic drive was, to a large extent, smoked out. We ran into smoke on US 395 from Crowley Lake (north of Bishop) to Topaz Lake, a distance of about 120 miles. It was so bad in the Lee Vining area, we never did see Mono Lake.
Then we turned west up Monitor and Ebbetts Passes and it was clear above the inversion level...until we plunged back into it above Arnold on the western slope. Fantastic drive over the passes though with very little traffic. And, the radar detector found three CHP before they found me. :lol
Unfortunately, not many photo ops because of the smoke.
Tons of bugs plastered on the car and, apparently, this part of California does not have self-service car washes?!

I rode up and down those mountain passes on a bicycle during the Deathride. It was great the roads were closed to traffic!
I did the Death Ride...around 1983! Back then it was the Markleeville Death Ride. Wish I still had the t-shirt. Skeleton riding a bike. We stopped in Markleeville today. Looks pretty much like it did 30 years ago.

Definitely. I have waited months for this event...my first Rally. We're flying out in just one day. Checking my cars GPS shows that it's near LA tonight and it will be waiting for us when we arrive in Sonoma on Monday afternoon. I don't know any of you guys from Adam but I'm on the edge of my seat waiting for this deal to go down.

GT is on other side of Phoenix 775 miles to Sonoma and will beat me there. See you guys on Tuesday around 3.
Looks like great "car guy" fun. I'm jealous, lol. Oh well, somebody has hold down the fort and got to work. With 100 GT's gathering, I'm not sure if the economic impact on the U.S will be up from your spending or down from the loss of productivity with all you guys on vacation at once, lol. Maybe next year for me.....
