My cooling upgrade (project) lots of pics

Wow !! That is awesome! Very nicely done .
Not knowing a lot about nitrous ,I am curious about the tank in the trunk .I know that what little I put in the trunk gets very hot .Is this any problem or issue with the nitrous tank ?

thats actually a coincidental bonus, the bottle works best when hot because the pressure is higher which is more desirable for this application.

Wow, awesome install pics. I love the way you put the button in the shifter. I always had questions about how nitrous applications work and this thread has been a very informative read.

I just have one question, how long does a bottle of nitrous last/how often do you need to refill it. Does it work till empty or is it better to ensure that it never gets too low? I guess that is two questions. :lol

I will be happy to show you at the rally:cheers

Thanks soroush. I'll be the one with the Aloha shirt on. :wink

Kendall, can't sleep as I'm too excited about giving my new Whipple a go this morning after your massaging these past couple weeks.

With that said, I think I got to have one of these! Can you do?

I really dont know how long its going to last. there are charts that show how long a 10 lb bottle will last at a given pill size(100 shot, 150 shot, etc.) offcourse bottle pressure plays a big role in the system and as the nitrous is consumed the bottle pressure drops and you lose a bit of the bite, thats why they sell bottle warmer in order to heat the bottle to keep the pressure high as to be able to deliver the nitrous with a desired punch. now the fact that the front of our cars gets realy hot is actually a bonus in this application because as the nitrous is consumed and the bottle pressure starts to drop the heat in the front of the car will actually increase the bottle pressure back up again and this will allow the nitrous to be delivered with more force which is desirable.

Im not done with this system but the car is going on transport today and I dont have more time to work on it, eventually I will put a automatic bottle opener, and a purge system on as well.:cheers

Simply WOW!

update.... sort of

so it has been two weeks since Ive been back from the rally and well I cant leave well enough alone, so the nitrous set up is being updated, new to the system will be an automatic bottle opener, a purge kit, a new shifter ball with switch and couple of new switches to activate the purge solenoid, and bottle opener, oh ya and we will be shooting for more power:lol this time were going after 880 rwhp. The car is on the lift and I have the next couple of days off from work which means I will be spending some quality time with my gal. more pics and commentary soon to follow. stay tuned.:cheers

Rock on !

Fascinating project. Keep the info and pics coming!!! :cheers

Beautiful installation! :cheers

I used to run Nitrous on my '85 McLaren Capri convertible and my '66 Shelby GT350H. Nothing as sophisticated as what you have done. I used to run the NOx right off idle - it really made a difference in response. With 12" wide street tires on the rear, and an automatic trans, either car could barely squeak the big tires off idle - BUT, if I pushed that little blue button on the shifter - all Hell would break loose - what a BLAST! :banana

I used to get about 60-90 seconds out of a 10 lb. bottle, but, you only use it in short 2-3 second bursts anyway, so a bottle would last me a couple weeks of driving.

Very nice job! Have fun with it!

regards,

Jeff
