Merkury 4, designed by Camilo Pardo and built by The GT Guy LLC

Process pics

Thanks to everyone for the comments.

I wanted to show a "quick" pictorial on what it took to build this car.

First it was a solid red car

Then it was taken apart.

Mods installed and tuned.

Entire body had to be painted show car black for the mirrachrome process to begin.

Assembled to make sure all the body gaps are right so the center stripe can be taped off.

Taken back apart and the fluorescent orange stripe painted on.

After the orange is dry, the mirrachrome can be applied. This is a very labor intensive process. The black base coat has to perfect (as many of you know that is not a word I use very much). It cannot be sanded, scuffed, or even touched before the mirrachrome is applied. The application of the mirrachrome is sprayed as a mist over the car. Once it lands you have to spray a drop coat of clear within a few hours. Then they have to “set” together. The next day it is wetsanded and polished smooth. Then you can spray another coat of mirrachrome with another drop coat of clear. Let it set up for another day, then it can be wetsanded and polished smooth again. Finally after all of that, the final layer of clear can be applied, wetsanded, and polished. At any time in this process if something didn’t turn out right you have to start over. Basically, anytime before the mirrachrome is applied, the surface has to completely smooth. Not a cheap or easy process by any means.

Camilo and his crew are working on more pics too. Hopefully we will have those in the next few weeks to post.

What a great car, thanks for posting! I've never seen or heard of that paint process but amazing results from a super tedious process.

I like black cars and would have loved to see that perfect shiny black undercoat!

Again, way to go guys!!

Absolutely gorgeous!! Thanks for sharing, keep 'em coming!!!!

The commitment to do this paint job is just awesome! LOVE IT.

I could stare at that one for hours and hours. :thumbsup

Up till now Rich, my two favorite GTs (visually) were your white/orange and FlorIdaho (Chris's) white/red Camillo TT. Merkury 4 blows them all away IMO. Well done. I can't wait to see it in person.

Holy Cow, that paint is fabulous!

I want one.

My favorite GT to date!

+1

wonder if you could do it in a wrap?

Amazing car. Any estimate on the cost that went into it? I'd love to know!

Gawd that car is badass. Great video and all for a 6 year old car.

Rich & Denny,

This car far surpasses the Heritage GT in appearance. You never get tired of looking at it.
