Well, I have heard about it happening to others, I have seen the results after the fact, but I never experienced it until last weekend. Someone keyed my SL55. :mad I have no idea what kind of gutless, ball less SOB thinks there is anything amusing about intentionally damaging someone’s car, but in a perfect world there would be summary execution for the offending party. Something involving extreme pain along the lines of peeling off their skin layer by layer like they did to my paint. :devil

Worst part is I can’t figure out where it happened because I noticed it the next morning. :confused I mean I park my cars in a cautious, however not paranoid manner. I only went two places, an upscale outdoor mall to eat and to a resort hotel where I have a work out membership. Now my non-GT fun car is sitting waiting for door repair. Well screw them. I am going to drive and enjoy my cars no matter what happens and the idiots of the world can go back to their bitter miserable lives. Get revenge and live well!! :thumbsup

Hope you guys never look at one of your gals and see the mark of the idiot…..:cheers

God help the person I ever catch doing this to anybody's car, mine included. Sorry to hear about your door.

Ironic that you post this (and I'm really sorry you had this happen), but a friend of mine/biz associate just related how he sold his Caddy pickup because of the amount of verbal abuse he was getting even around his (relatively) upscale neighborhood since he had a $60 large + pickup. Comments yelled at him by total strangers such as "what are you trying to prove" or "guzzle enough gas today" and so one caused him to rethink having the truck, which for him wasn't a necessity, but a vehicle he thought he'd like to experience. He doesn't live in an especially enviro friendly (read wacky types) area, but was tired of the verbal nonsense and related stares directed at him while driving or parking the car.
Most of the folks interacting with me in the GT have been very friendly, but I suppose there's more than a few lunatics out there to muck it up for everyone.

I think I would get rid of the neighbors before I got rid of the truck! Thats crazy.

I have had it happen twice in the long ago past. One on an MB SL in Austin at a mall way out on the very edge of the parking lot....nobody in sight. The other on an OJ Ford Bronco locally at the Cinema Theatre...again. way out on the edge of the lot. I did, however, take up 2 spaces, but not aywhere close to the heart of the parking lot...on the outside border. Learned my lesson. Never take up 2 spaces no matter what and now I go to Walmart and park right between 2 cars and never had a scratch or problem (yes I can open and close the door just fine). Both times I was able to buff the majority out. I guess these no-working bastards are too lazy to push hard enough on the key to really break the paint. Requires effort.

Sorry to hear of your door, and I agree with Sam....would just like to catch these scoundrels in the act.

You said the key thing that so many members here do not get...."I am going to drive and enjoy my cars no matter what happens".:thumbsup It is what it is....I'l be damned if they win and I'm too scared to leave my garage (:banana.. if the shoe fits......

What's up the the Texas inspection & registration?

'Been there, dunn that, and I know 'ZACTLY how you feel. 'Had a brand new car (2 weeks old) KEYED...a classic car HIT & RUN in a parking lot...and a battery acid coated FINGER PRINT (GLOVED, of course) put on the fender of a "pricey, high end toy car.

And some wonder why I N-E-V-E-R let my 'spensive cars outta my sight anymore...

These lowlife SCUMBAGS ought to be SHOT - AND IT SHOULD BE LEGAL...with a BOUNTY.

Success brings hate.

Over on the Corvette forum this happens weekly; to the point that they have a step-by-step guide to exact revenge (eg, cant beat, detain or assault, outranks property damage).

I have had it happen on an old BMW; keying and both tires (they were those metric Michelin XRX that cost $300+/ea)

Never underestimate jealousy.

I never leave my car unattended and I am always properly dressed. Low life scum are everywhere and it's getting worse by the day!

A friend of mine once said and I remember......."People like to see you do good...just not TOO good". Well said.

Had 2 friends unload their H2 Hummers due to the grief the got at the grocery stores and soccer fields etc.

+1

Very sad to hear this has happened. This happened to my black GT too. Passenger side, front quarter, right on the top.

Success brings envy, envy then brings anger/hate.

And also DISGUST for some, evidently.

'Bit off topic, but speaking of envy/hate/anger/disgust: Wifey got a mini "lecture" from some granola dame in the customer lounge at the local tire store who overheard the counter guy mention that the bill for wifey's replacement Potenza was $500 (ran over a stinkin' chunk of metal). She made it a point to come over to wifey & informed her that, instead of spending "all that money" buying her Bimmer and replacement tires for it, wifey could have done a lot for the poor instead. (I hope nunna the money we've given to charity has ever gone to HER.)

I wish I'd have been there...:mad

I'll shuddup now...

EP, at least your wifey drives her cars!

I know you cars will never get keyed unless someone breaks into your garage.

Thanks for the replies guys.....and the obligatory EP garage joke. I knew that was coming. :lol

Just a quick comment on the side topic of this thread. Jealousy/anger at those who have nice things. When I was a kid you aspired to be the guy in the great car or who had the great job. You worked to get there. You were not jealous of him.

Someone asked me at a C&C what I do to be able to afford a car like the GT. I hate that question and usually answer "I work mostly seven days a week all year long." to which he replied "I need my weekends off." To which I politely replied "You can't work a 40hr week and get ahead." .....and I don't think you ever could. I am not jealous of anything anyone else has because I don't know what they have to do to live that life. I have not had a 40hr a week job since I was 19. It does not exist in my world.

My neighbor had a good observation as we grumbled about my car. "The thing about the world today is a guy with a car like yours could just as easily be three payments behind and be close to having the thing repossessed." :lol Which made me laugh because he was right. You never truly know someone's circumstances and if they are living the good life or living hand to mouth trying to project an image. All I know is the car is repaired and back in my garage waiting for my next trip to Vegas to be driven and parked wherever the heck I want to go. :cheers

Skyrex.

Dittos to your last post, good mindset. I can only add, based on what I have experienced first hand that unfortunately in today's culture, people want what they want NOW, and too many think that if someone else can have it, why can't they, and some take out their frustration on the "luxury" item.

A pox on the bastards.
