How many out there have are running TT/Supercharger combo?

I have seen a few of these listed on Ebay. I understand the logic behind running TT's into the supercharger (no lag, low-mid range power/torque), but how are these packages holding up with spirited driving???
Any overheating issues, engine reliability issues, drivetrain issues, detonation, etc.????

Interested in heading this route, but looking for some feedback before I make up my mind. Another thought I had is that it appears people are running this combo with the stock 2.3L supercharger. What if a Whipple was used instead? Seems like it can handle more air and makes even more power/torque down low, so does anyone have this combo?
Thx!

I have the same?

Both my GTs are whippled,I did talked to john H,about doing mine maybe im
wrong, but to this date,i don't think he's done a whipple.I really want to get this done.

I played with this setup on my Yellow FGT which we are building for 1 mile and top speed racing...

power is INSTANTANEOUS and made me put the same setup on the GT I will be driving the most. Wonderful setup.

My Yellow FGT is going back to turbos only though.

Depending on your end goal using twins and the stock blower works quite well. You can see my car in various stages here :

Albeit for me I like my car with the turbo's only but I can switch between TT and TTSC if I feel like it

I've done it, theoretically it makes sense in reality it does not.

tmc-
Why do you prefer your car with the TT only as opposed to the TT+SC setup??

Why is your yellow one going back to Turbos only? I would think the extra power/torque in the low-mid range would be a welcomed addition. 2 people going back to turbo only has me thinking I must be missing something......

No top end parasitic power loss from driving the compressor and for me and how I enjoy my car it suits my individual taste better. YMMV

Same reason as I stated I bet. Speak up Ray. :biggrin

the combo might be better for a street car but personally i would run the TT setup only on my car. would make more top end power and create a lot less heat.

From all of the data I have collected on my car and Ray's car for that matter in TTSC form. There is no real appreciable spike in discharge temperatures when compared TT against TTSC.

We can make higher Peak HP with turbos only... supercharger can only be spun so much before the drag and power loss do not compensate for the extra low end power...

Also, when focusing on 1 mile and high speed racing you don't need the extra power off the line causing wheel spin... and once you are flat footed and shifting through the gears the car will stay in boost eliminating the SC advantage...

with that being said.. for a street car light to light at more reasonable speeds... I LOVE the way the SC/TT combo spools and pulls... no turbo lag... like being in a 1400rwhp Viper :biggrin

Has anyone had any issues whatsoever with this setup?

I think that clearly just the TT's is the oprtion for something like 1 mile racing, but for the street, having the TT+SC gives you significant low end torque advantage. I can floor my car with just the turbos in 3rd gear and go nowhere at low rpm. You can't do that with just a blower, let alone the blower and twins. Now I can't compare driving because I've never driven a TT+SC car, but I have to imagine that it's significantly more entertaining when you are not hauling 100% ass.

The best thing about having a TT+SC combo is that you can always swap back and forth if you feel like it.

interesting

my other concern,smog test.

Where i live in mass we have emissions,1 a year.I know the whipples are 50
state legal, and i have had no issues with each one.But putting tts also?

Every TT setup I have seen don't have cats and none have been CARB approved and 50 state legal. For clean eco-friendly power a Whipple is the only choice.

cats... we don't need no stinkin cats... :biggrin

I agree, unless you live in one of KAL-FOOL-NIA's bad air counties... :-(

I propose that Bony moves to Texas :)

We can start a pool to wrap his car in CF vinyl if he does it...
