For a stock '06 GT...
I wanted to get stock tire sizes (Hoosiers) for a set of stock BBS wheels. I am told that Hoosier does not make the exact OE front size of 235/45/18, but can supply 255/40/18. You think there is any problem with this size for stock wheel fitment? And what about the approx 1" extra width? Any rubbing problem there? In the alternative, they also offered a 245/40/18 which supposedly is about .3" shorter diameter than stock.
They do make the exact 315/40/19 for the rear, by the way.
Thanks for help.

do a search and you will find a great deal of discussion under tires and sizes.

do you own a fgt?

yes. o6 blue.

I have read a great many threads over the last week regarding tires, BONY, and if this particular question is answered, I must have missed it. I will appreciate anybody's feedback...particularly if they have first hand experience. Thanks.

Yup works fine, I have the 245 on the front of my car right now, I am using the R6. They are amazing on the track. The GY are ok on the track, these made me smile...... With the extra traction and speed, watch your brake pads closely, assuming you are headed to the track......

I run them and the front size you use is 245/40/18, 315/40/19 out back.

Me to. Regret I didn't do it sooner. It changes the car immensely in ability. It will hook up way better and direction change is outstanding. But that is what r rated tires are supposed to do. The Goodyears are less than acceptable except maybe in the rain. KEEP AWAY FROM RAIN if you get the Hoosiers.

Hoosiers R Boss

I love them. No problem on the front size. It sits a little bit lower in the front but; boy, the grip is unreal! You'll never want to go back.

I was thinking of Ed on this Q as well..So F 245/40/18, R 315/40/19 gravity yea? :cheers

OH YA !!!!! Love my Hoosiers !!!

Great. Thanks for the feedback. That's where these boards really shine. Left to my own devices, I surely would have made the wrong selection! I am not worried about rain as this set will be dedicated to track use only. I will keep the stock tires on a set of wheels for the street. Once again, Thanks.

Is anyone using Hoosiers front and rear as everyday tires?

Yes.

Dunlops Sport 9k on front @255/45/18 in case of rain on local roads - Hoosiers on back @315/40/19

Just not to drive cross country. ;-)

Ah yes, I only encountered 5 minutes worth of rain (in the Arizona desert) during that 5500 mile trip. So I could have actually done it.

But in about an hour the R6's are going back on my car so I am excited all over again. Mmmmmmm traction !

For cars using Hoosiers off-track only, what kind of milage is being obtained? (front and rear)

I get at least 5000 miles out of a set. Have run thru 4 sets so far.

Me too
