Headlights are in!

I had ordered a pair just to have "in stock" over a year ago, along with every rubber moulding in the car. The headlights just came in and I noticed that the new headlights are now made in Korea. I tucked them away with all my other spare parts.

If you plan on keeping your GT a long time, like I do, you will want certain spare parts that will no longer be available over time. The rubber items tend to be the very toughest things to find for limited production vehicles after ten or fifteen years, and they are not terribly expensive now.

Just something to think about....

Good idea. Can you give us a list of the items you are talking about?

FYI on the new light.
These are new OEM replacement, As Fisher Guide is out of Bus.
I'm sure your new lamps will be better than original lamps.

Who is the new vendor and why would they be better than our OE units?
I have no complaints with mine.....

Indy, I think he just means less problems and defects.

Hey Trent, do you guys have a small claims court in your neck of the woods?

BTW guys, the method of baking a headlight has been done for a while now allowing you to repair a busted unit or to remove condensation and resealing. There are many websites that shows this process, especially on the Mercedes customization boards. I also think this has also been done to BMW headlights. Who is going to be the 1st to black out the Ford GT headlights?

EFFER MAN, All I did was go into my local Ford Dealer in Santa Barbara, CA and we went over the parts manual together, picking out all the rubber gaskets. These would be all the seals around the doors, hood, clam shell, side windows, etc.

I dont like driving a car with 3000 dollar headlights.

So instead you drive two of them? :eek

The saga continues

I took my car in Tuesday to my selling and servicing Ford dealer for warranty replacement of my left headlight due to fogging and cracking. Have waited one full year for the part. I'm allowed to be in the service bay to watch and help the GT tech who is the only one allowed to work on my GT. We spent hours getting the fender liner out, replacing the headlight, and then turn it on to make sure it works, and there is a scratch on the inside of the lexan lens cover. About the size of my small fingernail. So, they now have to get in another new headlight and we have to do this all over again. But, expeiencce will now it make go faster the second time around.

I also ordered a pair of spare headlights from Torrie. Each box was different. One said "Made in the Netherlands" and the other said "Made in Korea." Both of mine and the one from the dealer for replacement have "Made in USA" on the part itself and look identical to the original, stock part.

I will keep the Forum advised of what happens next. The light appears to be aligned right out of the box, and the only adjustment is up/down.

Interesting, made in 3 different countries. I wonder are they any date codes on the parts. Then we would know what country is making them now.

:wink just ordered a set for spare:bored

My fourth driver's side headlight is in and I will have it installed on Monday, April 26th. The dealership said it is my last chance as relayed from Ford parts. Apparently they will all have the little defect in them on the inside of the lens. I'll will post Monday night how it went.

Was a new supplier found? Is this something that is likely to disappear in the future?
