I am curious about the actual weight. I have had several people ask me about the weight but I can't find the data. Thanks, TI :confused

3400 and change. (filled with fluids something like 3450)

Dbk, I know its only 50lbs., but the book says 3350 wet. Which book says 3400? Or, did you actually scale your baby? That is out of the ford team history book from detroit... :confused trust me... I'd believe you over the book :wink

Hope he did, his is the lightest setup from the factory and I'd like to know the true weight.

Look on the B pillar at the tag on the bottom. The weight is stated there.

Weight

Weighed my Heritage with BBS wheels on an SCCA certified scale and it was
3,460 with about 1/4 tank of gas and a few odds and ends inside.

Gordo.

GT shipping weight

One of the things we did at Wixom was to weight 1 GT a day on a certified scale. This was done per government regulations. They had a full tank of gas (full as it could possibly get), no car cover or battery tender.(as would be normaly driven) The weights ranged from about 3470 to 3500 lbs. The highest I ever saw was 3515 on a all optioned car. The lowest was about 3460ish.

Hope this helps

Interesting. I have a race car, 4-corner weighing setup. I will see if I can get the 4 corner weights over the weekend.

Mine weighed with a half tank of fuel as follows

Certified Automated Truck Scale

Drive axle: 1960 lbs
Steer axle: 1460 lbs
Gross Weight: 3420 lbs

8/19/2006

FWIW, the last C&D issue with all the cars at VIR had the GT at 3508.

Mine was 3750lbs... 1/4 tank of gas and my fat ass in it :biggrin

It would be nice to know if the quoted weight are with the optional forged wheels or the standard cast wheels. As reported on another thread the forged wheels will save you about 8 to 9 pounds per wheel, or about 34 lbs.

I knew the the GT wasn't a light car, but compared to a Z06 it is really a porker! It is a good thing the power can easily be boosted and you can dump about 50 with a simple exhaust change. I will have to weigh mine when I get a new exhaust. I should save weight with the lighter exhaust, no baby seat bracket, no mac system, carpet instead of the rubber mats and the forged wheels. Some brake rotors with aluminum alloy hats would be a good savings too.

the GT weighs about the same as a viper, f430 or gallardo......give or take 50lbs.

It would be interesting to see weight difference with bbs wheels, different exhaust, remove the insert from the front bonnet that contains the tool kit and air comp, and off course mac sub delete.

A friend has a race car and scales, for his corner weights and setups. We are going to scale my GT in the near future. I removed the boat anchor - I mean stock muffler, so it will be interesting to see corner weights, and how much front/rear bias changed (easily calculated, but the scale is the true test).

Weighed mine yesterday 3430lbs No one in the car & 1/4 tank of fuel, lightweight wheels and no Mac as it is a Canadian spec'd car.

No mods although I have to take Red Rocket's advice & remove the spacer on the rear bumper, maybe once I park it for winter. In the meantime I.........Neeeeeeed..........to..............dirve...........must ...........drive........now.
:cheers

I was actually walking in to start a thread on this subject......I weighed my car about an hour ago, on certified truck scales........

My car has all options minus stripes, IDA Exhaust, a needle width over a half tank.....3420lbs!

We weighed the stock muffler and brackets, then the IDA......right at 50lbs difference....and the exhaust note is awesome!

Peace!

Ed's GT weight

I had my GT weighed today. It was 3406 lb with 3/4 tank of gas. At approximatley 6 lb/gal of gasoline the weight sans fuel would be approximately 3327 lbs (using 17.5 gals x .75 x 6 - 3406).

I have removed the Mac sub-woofer speaker & added a 6 point race harness, fire extinguisher + Ford trans oil cooler. I also had lots of CDs, radar detector, heavy traveling tool kit, etc in the car at the time. I replaced the muffler with an Ida, replaced the shocks with Penskes & replaced the brake rotors with SVTs (the rotors saved 12 lbs of unsprung weight!).

I have a weight weenie bicycle and the costs are nothing compare to lightening the GT. The next steps are Dymag wheels with magnesium centers and carbon rims with ceramic rotors for the ultimate savings in unsprung weight!

What tool kit? Is the insert you're referring to the trunk shell?
