GT350 track car build

Must be awesome taking it apart, knowing you dont have to put it back together! MUCH faster.

I completely agree - it’s a lot more fun taking things apart and putting it back together as a track car.

No AC!
Yikes !
I would love AC in my race car!
Nothing better than being cool on the grid!

Fred- give me that screw driver you're using to turn the car. I can get it wrapped in carbon fiber!

Looks awesome!

Looks awesome!

Thanks.

Got the car back from the painter. Worked on installing the IP and pedals.

Didn't think that screwdriver would last long in there. This is an exciting build to follow. Please keep the updates coming. Some of us need to live vicariously. Too much winter for me to want to wrench much on my old stuff.

Moving right along! Looks great.

seen the car the other day at the painters. love the way the cage ties into the "A" pillars. very smart

Installed the steering assembly. I used rivnuts to attach displaced ground wires and trimmed the lower IP to clear door bars. IP in almost done.

All the wiring had unique ends so it made reassembly relatively easy.

Next on the list are all the suspension mods. Ford racing parts will replace all rubber bushings including the diff and rear cradle bushings. Ford Performance lowering springs and sway bars.

Fred -- once you do all this , will you be able to drive the vehicle legally on city streets?
Sure would like to see it on Woodward at Pasteiners in the Spring.... !

Andy, It’s not street legal because of the cage. You will see it at M1 when we have C&C or stop by anytime.

Removed the IRS for suspension upgrades

In MI you can't have a street car with a cage? I would have thought something like, too low no cats / too loud would be the street legal violation.

Edit, also air bag elimination would be a street violation.

It’s not street legal because of the cage.

Bigger hurdle: no vin#, therefore not licensable

since he started with a production Mustang with a VIN, cannot he just use the VIN Plate on the IP ?

As Andy states, Fred has started with a production GT350. See 1st post and carpets. This isnt a body in white build up.

IDK MI laws, but a cage would fail occupant safety regs. Unsafe unless you're helmeted and harnessed.

That would be like saying you could not drive a 68 kr 500 shelby. oem cage. Plenty of street cars across the country being driving with roll cages. Very unsafe yes. I do not recommend any of my customers to do it. First little old lady or someone that t bones you at 30mph or less and you are going to be in trouble with your head smashing a tube.
