Fred Goodnow - Things Gone Right! (TGR)

Fred,

There has been much discussion about the design of the GT - that it respectfully improves upon that of the original.

Not nearly as much has been said about the comparative between the original team of people who created the GT40 and the successor GT. Both teams were leaders, innovators and masters of execution. Your team was able to achieve an equally incredible product, while respecting time, financial & regulatory constraints not known by the earlier team!

Thank you for your personal dedication and leadership in the execution of the finest supercar on the planet! Each time I lift the car cover, I still smile just as much as the first day I saw the GT at Ford's centennial celebration. It is magic! :thumbsup

Best wishes to you and family on your (short term) retirement! We're certain to see you re-emerge before too long -- your kind of talent never actually retires!

Thank you again and best regards,

Rex Miller

Fred,

Thank you for everything! If not for all of you insight and hard work, we might not have come together here to talk about a car that is absolutey the best American car ever produced.

I enjoyed meeting you at Camilo"s party and did everything you told me to do with the sill plates for Edsel's and Henry's cars.

I sincerely hope that you will be asked to come back and join the team that builds the next "One". Remember the idea we talked about that Camilo and I were going to pitch to Edsel?:wink Hopefully that day will come.

All the best:cheers

Keith

Thanks Fred to you, and all of the team, that has created such an amazing car, with such an amazing story.

An honor to have met you @ the rally, thanks, Andy

Fred... I thoroughly enjoyed having dinner with you and the gang at the hotel on the first night of the Detroit GT event. You and the GT team have produced something that you and ALL of us can be very proud of. I absolutley LOVE this car and will never part with it. I have more fun driving this car than any other car I have ever driven.

I hope to see you again in the near future. Next time I am in Detroit maybe DBK, GTJoey, Camilo and some of the gang can meet for dinner.

Good luck to you in your retirement. I hope you enjoy every minute of it!

Thanks Fred to contributing your expertise and making the GT become a reality. Ever since I saw the original GT40 I longed to own an example of this fine machine, designed and built in the USA but never thought it would be possible. I have owned many exotics but this one is a keeper. You and your team were able to take a 40 year old design and make it a modern piece of technology and handling with a timeless design. Part of you is in every GT that we drive. I am glad that I had the opportunity to meet you at the rally and smile everytime I show friends the picuture of you with me and my wife at Camilo"s party. I am sure we will see you involved in another project. Can't wait to see what you will be involved with next. If ever in south Florida
please look me up. Perhaps a group of us local GT owners could get together.

Best of luck Fred.

Fred,

Years and decades from now, even centuries, your contributions to the automotive industry and the Ford GT will be remembered and heralded. Partial proof of those efforts are recorded in the numerous articles and books memorializing the GT, none more significantly than the yearbook we received at the rally. You were gracious and modest then, and I appreciate the time you spent with us all. Your signature was one of the most important one's I obtained for my book!

Thank you and have a happy and beneficial retirement!

Don Bennett AKA BigsGT

Fred,
We met and briefly spoke with you at the rally in Dearborn. I know I thanked you at that time for building this automotive masterpiece for which I will forever be indebted to you, however, this car just keeps getting better and I find I can't thank you enough. We hope your retirement is everything you need it to be but don't turn in your keys and make sure Ford still has your phone number. You're the man!
Health and happiness to you and your family,
Vince and Pattie

Mr. Goodnow, I always use to say "Good'n'now. The rally in detroit was my families first car event. The GT is my families first super/exotic. What I can say is this. It is an absolute honor to own and drive one of your vehicles. It has brought a new passion to my family as my dad now owns one too:thumbsup Everyone at FORD made us feel like family and that is truly what has been created here on this forum. Much thanks... Best to you and your family on your new journey... and if you're ever in SoCal... Please look us up.

Retirement

Dear Fred,

Enjoy your retirement, as much as you enjoyed your "work".

The Ford GT, which you caused to be built, is something special. The folks you gathered together to design and build it, did one hell of a job. The passion that went into this project is so personal, with you at the top of that ladder. A JOB WELL DONE

We GT owners are as proud of our GT's as your TEAM is proud of their accomplishment. Your leadership, your dedication and your passion for the GT is second to none. Thank You.

If you're like me, you will find retirement to be busier than when you were working. I hope you'll find time to write a memorandum of your Ford career. The people you worked with, the places you visited and the tales of the journey you went on, during you time at Ford, are so very special, and I for one would enjoy the read.

:cheers

Keep in touch.

Most Sincerely,

Jeff Larson

Dear Fred.

Thank you for building the best GT ever. Having owned everything from a Pantera that I bought new in '72, to many Corvettes and Ferraris, I can honestly say that what you and your superb team accomplished in the short timeline allowed in nothing short of miraculous. I can't believe Ford is letting you retire and am betting you'll be consulted often. As an engineer myself, I have worked with many talented designers, engineers and managers ... however LEADERSHIP is a rare commodity which you obviously possess in spades.

I hope you have a long and healthy retirement and I'm sure you know how much we all appreciate what you have done for GT enthusiaists and the Ford Motor Company.

All the best, Fred Hammerle

Fred,

I hope that you know that you have forever changed the lives of many people through your hard work, dedication, and ability to make a vision a reality. Thanks for helping to create the most awesome car in America and making our lives a more like heaven on earth!

I just found this thread, I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet you, but thanks for everything you did for me and my car. Every time I start my car I think of you...:wink

Thanks and good luck Fred!:thumbsup
