Ford GT Fire system

So are we doing a group buy on this thing or what? I'm going to order one now if no one else is interested. I've got a call in to Don Warren to find out the discount for multiple purchases and I'll post when he calls.

Fyr-FtrGT,

Can I trouble you for a quick measurement? A couple of owners have asked me about obtaining a Transaxle Cooler Kit with the bracket pre-drilled for the Fire supression bottle. Can you please tell me the location and hole size of the bottle attach points. I would appreciate it.

OK guys, if you're interested in this system stop ordering them individually! Search for my new thread "Fire Suppression Group Buy" and help us all save a few bucks.

I'm bumping this thread so everyone can easily compare the pictures of the two different routing methods for the hoses. Nota4re came up with a more hidden system and has pics in a different thread.

Personally, I like the idea of routing the hoses around the rear of the engine but I want them visible on top of the engine braces.

Can anyone think of a way to complicate this even more? Don should be pulling his hair out by now.

If that's intended as a challenge - I'll see what I can come up with!:biggrin :lol :rofl

There are a lot of new members who have bought their car since this product became available who probably don't know it exists. I thought I'd revive this thread because I always thought it was a very worthwhile product.

If I'm violating any rules about paid vendors please delete it and I apologize. I just know that there are a lot of unique, low production products available that the new guys may not know about.

And no, I'm not getting a kickback or discount.:biggrin

Many of us have installed Don's systems.. they are first rate!
Hello Don... :)

...another group buy???

...another group buy???

When you call Don ask for the "Shaowman" special (this is the one that I designed) as this is the IMO and certainly subjectively speaking very cool hard line system with the manual bottle disconnect valve integrated.

He offers other systems as well and as for price I have no idea howver there are no $$ in it for me only the knowing that another wonderfully integrated system has been installed

Takes care

Larry, shouldn't you keep it for your next FGT?

Hmmmmmmmmm ... you just may have a point there ... :willy

The fire systems are on Kendalls ( Nota4re) website. PM him he has stuff in stock. There are different mounting brackets versions.

Standalone - No trans cooler
With Ford Racing Transcooler
With Cooltech Transcooler

The hoses have two options

With braided lines or with hard lines ( think brake line )

The bottles also come in different colors, Red, White, Crinkle Finish, Polished as I recall.

A very very nice system for a reasonable price IMO.

Anyone who may be interested in the system, please chime in here or PM me and I can work to see if we can put together a group discount. Please note that as of Jan 1, there was a price increase but with a few buyers grouped together, I think we can work something out. As Wally points out, the information that is needed from each individual is as follows:

1. Type of Transaxle Cooler ( Cool Tech, Ford Racing, or none) In the case of a Cool Tech or Ford Racing cooler, you will receive the appropriate bracket to adapt it to the cooler mounting system. If you have no cooler, the kit will come with a modified Cool Tech bracket to mount the bottle using the factory nutserts on the frame rail. (No drilling, cutting or other non-reversible mods are needed on any of the configrations.)

2. Line type: Choose either the hard lines, or the braided stainless steel lines. Shadowman devised the hard line solution and did a wonderful job. My preference is for the flex lines which are routed behind the engine instead of in front and with the halon nozzles mounted below the frame rails instead of the top. Both systems function identically - it's just a matter of personal aesthetics preference.

3. Halon Bottle Color: The crinkle black and white bottle are definite options. Polished is not. I would recommend the white bottle as it is becoming the standard for track workers and safety personnel to recognize as a fire supression tank.

4. Halon Overfill: The systems come with a 3lb Halon bottle. The bottle can be over-filled to hold 4lb of Halon for a slightly higher cost. Again, I recommend this.

In summary, either within this thread or by PM, let me know your interest and include your preferences to the 4 options listed above. Opt in by the end of January, and we'll see how many hands we have at that time.

Kendall installed the fire system on my GT; he did an excellent job as usual! it also looks great :thumbsup

I would like to add here that these kits are easily installed by "mechanically challenged" owners. I did my own install and got great satisfaction from it. Not hard at all.

My highest recommendation goes to nota4re/Cool Tech/Kendall for the Safecraft install. It is absolutely first rate and looks factory. This is one of those mods you install, forget about it and hope you never have think about it again. However, if the need arises, it's priceless.

Kendall,
Please put me down for one system. So far am I in the group of one?

We've always said that about you, Bruce. :biggrin OK, so you're down for the Halon system and the rear bumper delete, right? :eek
