For some of you who are my age you probably are well aware of the iconic surfing film, "Endless Summer", where surfers travelled the globe throughout the year seeking the best waves. For Jeff L. aka: PL510*Jeff, the fun started three weeks ago, and keeps going on, and on, and on. After the rally Jeff travelled to Long Island, Maine, then to Detroit to visit Mark McGowan and others. He finally caught up with me and my family in Ohio for a couple days at Mid-Ohio to catch the beginning of a sunny race weekend and PDX day. I've attached some photos to prove that he's still on the road. He left for home Friday and is still on the road back to Seattle. God Speed Jeff! Glad you made our day great serving as the best crew chief in the business!!

I'm working on it!

Jeff made it safely to my place and is now sound asleep. Leaving early tomorrow to cross Iowa and beyond.

Keep going, Jeff. That process server will give up sooner or later.

I'm still on Rally III in Vegas!

Great for you guys!
Very cool!

Hope that wasn't the last time you drove GT!

Thanks for the very nice Gt patch, putting it on my red GT fleece from roketman Ronnie.

Hilo - I photoshoped your Az "Portrait" onto my license. The "Man" should be arriving on your doorstep soon.

Have had a rather good adventure to and from Rally V. 8,800 miles todate, with 1,200 to go me back to my abode. Somewhere in central South Dakota as I write this. Anybody need anything from Wall Drug? I'll be going by there in 90 minutes.

Time to Rock & Roll.

Bye for now

Jeff - why don't you try & have some fun!!! I love it.

Ed

Say hello to Wall for me!

I'll be heading to SD new week. Beautiful and diverse state isn't it if you enjoy the outdoors.

Stayed in Chamberlain, SD Sunday night. Every rrom for rent was sold out. Restaurant & bars were packed - on A Sunday nite! Asked what was going on - it was the start of Pheasant hunting season. From what I learned that evening Chamberlain is the center of the Universe for those that are into "Only The Best" in pheasant hunting. Back at the hotel there were lots of brouchere's for Pheasant Hunting Ranches (aka Resort's). Some 5***** places to be sure.

Side note: overheard in the bar - a discussion on forming a PAC to make sure that Asault type weapons not be outlawed under Federal law.
As I listened to their discusssion, I was amazed that it was not for personal protection, etc , but to insure that they could continue to use them to hunt the large wild hogs. Only weapon that wll "work" on the monster hogs other than Elephant guns.

Rally v . . . . Ends today

RALLY V ENDS TODAY. Between 1 and 2 this afternoon, after completing that last leg between Missoula, Montana and Seattle, Washington. A bit less than 450 miles--and I'll be home.

Met many, many fine folks who like our GT's. And to spend the better part of a week with those in attendance at Rally V was just wondeful. And being able to complete a major bucket list item...driving in and through all 48 States...was the comlpletion of a "idea" that started many decades ago. Being able to "Just Do It" in my Ford GT made it even more special.

Road Trip #16 in the GT was troublefree, with no mechanical issues, pretty good roads, real decent weather (well mostly) and no tickets!

(Althought yesterday I was stopped near Deer Lodge, Montana. The officer reminded me that the legal speed limit was 75 and I was traveling along at 85. Although the "real" reason I was pulled over was that he wanted to let me know - something was flapping aound under the GT. Rear diffuser pan had lost one of the screws, so it was flopping around a bit. He didn't want it to fall off, as it was "probably real expensive". Thank you Sir and off I went ------at the Legally Posted75 MPH limit on I-90.)

Missoula to Seattle just under 450 miles. Nice scenery along the way. And Home At Last.

And Time to start planning and coordination for RALLY 6:thumbsup

Glad you made it home safely! I'm also glad that Ohio were in your planned route. It was a real pleasure being with you at Rally V and here in Ohio. See you at "Stig's Day Out" or Barrett-Jackson this Winter.

As a teen, I used to go to Chamberlain to go dancing, actually to be more accurate, to chase the farm girls. Now there are some hard bodies. Those are my old stomping grounds. I'll be heading to SD to visit family and of course do some pheasant hunting. Glad to hear your crosscountry was uneventful and fun. I'd love to make a trip like that one day.

Yup, those hogs can get very large and are hard to put down. They cause a tremendous amount of damage to the farmer's crops and land through errosion, etc. Wild hogs also have a huge negative effect on pheasants (eat their eggs and chicks) and other wildlife. They reproduce like rats sometimes having 2-3 litters of about 10 piglets a year.

Ed, Not this time, but probably in the future. I'd also like to find some time to go to Rally VI, sounds like a great time and wonderful folks. Almost went to Lemans to see Matech race, but work got in the way. Really regret not going.

End to Rally V----Update

Got the GT home last night around 7:30. A bit later than I last posted as I stopped in Spokane, Wa and had a nice lunch and visit with some special vintage racing friends.

For the record:

Mileage to & from Rally V . . . . . . . . .10,048.9:banana

Total Miles on My GT as it stands . . . 83,242.8:biggrin

It's good to be home.
