FGT Motor in a Ultima GTR?

The Ultima GTR720 made the fastest lap around the Top Gear track beating
Michael Schumacher's lap in a $2,500,000.00 Ferrari FXX by over 1/2 a second.

A fully built GTR with whatever motor and trans you put in it will cost less than $200,000.00.

YOU DO THE MATH

I though the Gumpert Apollo was the fastest? Has that changed?

How would it look through the rear clamshell glass with those velocity stacks in "orange" on a Gulf GT? Mmmmm...

The ultima looks like a kit car from the 70s called a manta. Any relation? It is also the exotic car that was stolen in the original Gone in 60 seconds.

Putting our motor in any car would be ok. The thought of putting an LS into our car that is sacriledge.

It sure looked "ok" in that '60 Starliner at SEMA! :thumbsup:thumbsup

DANG!!! THAT was one sharp ride!!!!!!!

How is the Gt motor different then the one they put in the current Mustang Shelby 500 (or whatever it is called)???

The Shelby's have iron blocks and are not dry sumps.

Everything but the head castings, intake valves, & valve springs are different between the two.

...and someone posted ("back when") here on The 'Forum that the GT mill's components are designed to "live" when producing up to 1,000 h.p.

Andy in Lufkin used to have a low-miles salvage GT engine/transaxle - think he was asking $28K.
the reason most folk put in Chevies is that you simply cannot buy horsepower that cheap anywhere else - e.g. my other fun car has a chevy with 501hp, cost $4995 for the finished crate motor and all I had to fit was a carb and starter motor - 10 bucks per horsepower is unbeatable. For comparison, the Supra guys in Houston typically spend $50-60K on engines to run the Texas Mile at 200mph, but they aren't putting out 5000hp!

You can get new.

For not much more, new in the crate both items?

Yea i know, i meant that the Gt500 only shares those couple items with the Ford gt other wise everything else with it is different. The gt motor/drivetrain is a bad a$$ piece!!!!!

I can get a gearbox.

We are also working on a race version of the box

Alex, how will the race box differ from the stock one?

The race box will have straight cut gears & dog ring (no syncro) engagement.

And each of the 6 forward ratios can be changed independently of each other.

Allowing the user to fine tune as required for real high end racing.

The project is still quite young. With a large amount of development yet to happen.
