A few months ago several of us where chatting about chip repair products. Well recently I caught a few chips to my daily driver and had a product recommended so on a lark I also bought a small bottle for the GT as well.

It is a fairly straight forward process.

Clean area with clean prep.

apply paint, then lightly smear it to smooth out the area

wait 2min to 2 hours ( about five works great)

Apply #2 and lightly rub to fine smooth the paint.

then immediately puff to shine (lightly)

With practice and the right technique the repair is flawless.

Paint is perfectly matched. Is hand mixed when you order it and the kit ships immediately.

attached photos. (sorry for the poor quality photos but in person it is smooth and matches perfectly.)

Nice find #3 pic looks great . The second pic scared me a bit though.:eek

Where did you order it from? I checked their main website and didn't see how they facilitate retail orders.

http://www.drcolorchip.com/

Go to bottom of page. Add the kit that you want (the small one is more than enough but you might run short on the #2)

it will take you to another page where you add your information and paint codes. (I added my vin also)

then you pay for the item. They will send you a confirmation email the next day. I asked for the owner to call me on the GT paint. He did and we had a nice chat about the product. Overall the company is quite easy to work with .. not a large operation but quality product.

hope that helps.

:lol both sides had some chip damage when I bought the car in those spots but not a major issue. I forgot to take a photo of the same side during the process so there is a back and forth in the pics. Oh well, now you know why I don't have a DIY show on TV. :lol

Now I wait three days and Zaino the cr@p out of that area! LOL!!

with roughly 6000 miles on my car since last feb. the front of my car is full of chips, I just ordered this stuff and will be looking forward in using it, I hope its as good it seems to be. thanks for sharing:thumbsup

Can this stuff really match the metallic colors like Midnight Blue, Silver and Tungsten? My belief from the right angle and lighting the repair will be readily visible. The best one can hope for is that under typical conditions the repair will not standout.

Im hoping since mine is black it would be the easiest to match and the least visible after.

I think you will have the much better chance with the black. Good luck. I look forward to your report.

My BMW is Jet Black and 1161 is Midnight blue. The black was harder than the blue to be honest. But then again I have 6 coats of Zaino on the BMW.

The BMW paint is soft and the chips where deeper where the GT paint is harder and the chips are shallow.

In either case the paint is PERFECTLY matched ... and anyone who really knows me knows how ANAL I am about my cars. :willy

Ok here comes the disclaimer .. I am not in anyway shape or form involved with the company nor have I been compensated in anyway and although I am endorsing this product I refuse to do so on TV. :biggrin

I did say with practice and technique the repair is A+ ... personal results may vary. But on the issue of color .. its a match ... would I put a chip paint on MY beloved Ford Gt if it was not? The 08 BMW was the guinea pig ...:thumbsup

Is the white circle a glare in Pic 3? It looks like you rubbed through the paint to the primer.

It's reflected light either from the halogen lights overhead or the neon on the wall. I'll put the car in the sunshine and post photos after I zaino the car.

Overall I have been very impressed with the products. I repaired about 10 chips that where to the metal on the BMW. Learned that if you do it in small layers over two - three days the finished product is perfectly smooth and matches the paint exactly. I will wait another three days as instructed then zaino the car. Since the car is black its a bit difficult to get the repair area to show after the first coat of paint goes on in photos. All in all ... much easier than any other system / method that I have ever used.:thumbsup

What is the paint code for midnight blue ?

What is the paint code for midnight blue ?

Paint code for any ford gt is on the sticker in the drivers door. But specifically the code for a 05 Midnight Blue Gt is LA ... or at least that is what my sticker says.

LA is listed for Midnight Blue in the Chemicals and Lubricants Catalog; Touchup Paint is PMP-19500-6504A.

cool thanx boys !

This is good news guys!

I had read about this stuff and did a little reading on their web site, but was reluctant to order.

If it works as good as indicated by your collective experience, that would be terriffic.

Trouble is for me right now is I am in MA and my car is in NJ. I'd like to order some to be delivered to NJ next week so I can use it if I need to as I get the car ready for Vegas.

My car is a red '06 - last 4 digits of vin are 1009. Can anyone give me the details on my paint code, so I can talk with DRChip and get the right stuff?

Thanks a lot.

Paint Code for Mark IV Red: D3 (Also called Torch Red - Mustang and Colorado Red - generic); Touchup is PMP-19500-7042A

Paint Code for Centennial White (Stripes): WT (Also known as Vibrant White and Performance White - generic); Touchup is PMP-19500-1028A

Primer Touchup is PMP-19500-1000
Clear Topcoat Touchup is PMP-19500-6000

Thanks Ralphie!!!

You anticipated the question I forgot to ask - about the white. There's some stuff on my stripes from tracking at saac33, and I don't know if it's just dirt, rubber, tar or worse. One of the areas I want to address next week.

I will call DR Colorchip this afternoon and get some red and white sent to me.

Thanks again for the prompt response. This forum WORKS!
