Bugatti Veyron....It's what's for lunch.

If you ain't breaking stuff you aren't driving it hard enough. :)

Words of wisdom from the GT Forum's most enthusiastic Mile Racer. Jason reminds me of an automotive Winston Churchill, always undaunted no matter what the setback. Mullet lives according to the Prime Minister's shortest speech, "Never give up, never give up, never, never, never." :thumbsup

After having the privilege of touring the stunning Bugatti factory in Molsheim and putting 220 km on one of their test mules, I came away very impressed with the cars overall capabilities, but there's clearly no way it's gonna challenge a TT FGT on race gas. Had you both been running 93 octane (as I imagine they were), I suspect your margin of victory would have been much smaller. I went 205.1 at the Texas Mile at 17 psi/93 octane, which is still Bugatti besting, to be sure.....

Congrats,

Sanjay

Great post chip, and great representation of the GT even with TT problems.

A Bugatti rep came by my trailer to explain why the Veyron didn't run faster and to look at my GT. He couldn't seem to understand how a V-8 Ford with 2 turbos was faster than his W-16 with 4 turbos. He looked inside my car and asked me, "Is that a manual transmission?", "Do you shift that and use a clutch pedal on the floor??" He looked at that stick shift like it was a starter crank handle sticking out of the front of the radiator.

Probably similar to what Enzo was thinking, just before Henry spanked him at LeMans :)

Thannk you Chip for sharing your experience.

Yes; John aka AccuFab is a good man.

Takes care

Shadowman

Pretty insane when a car that is under $200,000 all built out can spank a car that is over $1,200,000.
Great write up.

Not to mention the aesthetic gap is much larger than even the performance gap.

Veyrons are ugly. I would never let one near my daughter.

+1

Actually, you are too kind.

:lol :lol :lol :lol :lol

You guys are nuts! I'll take a Veyron any day of the week!

No matter what it looks like it goes 267 mph STOCK! To me it's one of those things that is ugly until you read what it does, and then it becomes a whole lot better looking. It's an automotive psycho, and we're lucky some suckers somewhere were gullible enough to greenlight the inevitable millions in losses so we can say "Holy shit that thing is fast!" :lol

I'd take one, but I wouldn't pay for one! :lol

I'd take one too at $200k. Engineering pretty awesome. I don't mind the looks.

The maintenance is off the hook, just horrid expensive.. Plus the initial cost....

Still Fugly. :rolleyes

Translation: DBK is saying in Ford biz case parlance - not gonna' happen here..... :lol

They can complain about conditions all they want, but they ran right around what they should have. That 1,000hp number is bhp not rwhp......or in their case allwheelhp. :wink 800-850hp to the ground is low 200's in the mile at best, period.

Everyone thinks they are going to be faster than what they are in these events......until they actually run. :driving:

No turbo problems and Chip would have had a 220+. You can get good times out there.

Great story and a tribute to Accufab. Also great to see you chasing it down, whatever IT is!

Agree. This is one of those "team efforts", but a lot of credit has to to go to Chip for a skilled effort behind the wheel. Good Job!!!!!

Yep, I'd rock one too. MULLET V would be on the license plate.
