Black Factory BBS Forged Wheel Paint Color input

Thanks Soroush.

I suspected $225 or so per wheel just seems like too much. Always better to go direct to the source of the service.

I've just ordered the tires, since my rear tires can use replacement, so I might just go ahead and re-shoe the tires on the existing wheels, then perhaps buy a spare set of wheels, and take my time finding a quality place that will powder coat at a fair price.

That will also give me the time to see a lot of different wheel finishes and colors.

Damn I wish I could find a solid black GT..

that is beautiful Soroush!!!!!!!!

Okay, sorry for the delay. I really appreciate everyone's feedback. Always a little scary to try to push the envelope and make something a little unique. I was inspired by Dennis and his painted 6 spoke wheels on his unique Yellow GT. The easy and safe choice would have been to copy him, but I also wanted to do something unique and different.

The input from members saying to "break up the black" was also helpful. I decided to keep the stock silver center cap and bolts. I like the look - just a touch of contrast.

Here is the first "teaser" pic I took. More pics very soon. Just need to take the time to post them to photobucket and then here.

I am very pleased with the result. And the new tires are great also. Traction seems improved and no noticeable degradation in ride quality.

Hey Randy the car looks great !! I sprayed my center caps with a blue translucent paint and you can still see the Ford GT logo.. they make red also. The red caps would look good with the red calipers. My red gt will be this way soon.. ( Black wheels / Red caps ). I know it may be to ricer for some..:biggrin

SYCO GT ,

I put the same combination on my JCW COoper S, black with silver rims.

21 June is coming together for C&C.

Hey Guys,

I am considering painting the factory BBS upgraded wheel in black for my black GT.

I was wondering if anyone has pictures. The only one I have seen is the Stillen Ford GT.

Also, I can't decide on:

1) Actual Paint color: gloss black to match color of car, matte or satin black as an option...

2) Design: wondering how it would look if outer rim of wheel was left unpainted, or if that is even a viable option given design of wheel. Also whether to paint inner well of the wheel, although it would probably just be covered in brake dust anyway...

Any photos or just general suggestions would be appreciated. The one thing I have decided is that I would prefer paint with clear coat over powder coat.

Thanks in advance!

Looks great, George!

Thanks for all the great suggestions and photographs. Wonderful to see all the different spins and unique interpretations.

Here are the powder coated results on my GT:

I got mine powder coated for less that 400 dollars at a local shop they did a great job and it cost me 150 to mount the tires and balance them at a different shop. they used state of the are mounting and balancing machines that the reason for the extra cost. so to charge 1000 for powder coat mean they spend 500 for the wheels and they keep 500, just my 2 cents

That is hot!!!

I like all of the personal choices that folks make with their gal however I lean towards the "Darkside"

These OME BBS wheels were power coated with a semi gloss black dust including the center caps and then Derry created a stunning set of black engraved lug nuts for me to bring the process togther.

All the best

To answer your question Atomic,

it's on the dash, of course, so as not to appear concealed.

Actually, I'm not sure which is more impressive - the HP/TQ rating of Johnny's Heritage or the sales price?!! :eek:eek That has to be the highest all time ask! But, of course, it's a Heritage. :thumbsup

the heritage is getting a whipple and a 30psi pulley next.
