Oohhh! Duh! I missed the 2004 in your title!

This will be interesting. Sold on Bill of Sale, high miles, and yet Prototype GT. And in the best Color combo.

... but sold on a bill of sale?
Odd... it has a VIN. but maybe it's not legit since it claims to be model year 2004.

All the CP and PB cars had 2004 VIN's.

THe VIN shown decodes as MY 2005.

It may have a chip in it so you can't go over 5mph.

Short memories.

In 2008 everything was chaos at Ford (and everywhere else) and they were going to crush this car PB2-1, PB1-1 and CP-1 to get them off the books. I told Jamal Hameedi that was insane and he absolutely had to let me auction them, even as paper weights. Jamal and his director at the time, Hermann Salenbach agreed to let us auction them at FGT Rally III. I remember at the time Hermann asked me what I thought CP-1 was worth, and I told him honestly I had no idea. It could be $50k or $150k. The car was a total disaster so expectations were low. PB2-1 was by far the nicest of the 3, but still it was just impossible to gauge what it was worth given the timing, collapsing economy and also just the market value of normal Ford GTs at that point. Jamal got them cleaned up-ish and I went over to Roush 57, he gave me the keys, and I drove them out and took pictures of them in the parking lot. The car market was a lot different then. I believe Jim Salomon paid $155k for this car at the auction. The amounts over the Ford SVT reserve were donated to the Loma Linda VA Healthcare system.

That was a long time ago. Jamal, Hermann and I were together in 2023 in Val d'Orcia for Jamal's elaborate tuscan wedding. Jamal is now living in Birmingham, England as Director of JLR Special Vehicle Operations and Hermann retired from Ford to a Bavarian village outside of Munich. I am mainly hiding in various warehouses.

Dbk, do you know why bill of sale ? No title? Are they street legal?

Ford sold the cars on the condition they would not be driven on the street for liability concerns. They were delivered with 5 mph speed limiters. The original buyers had to sign a barrage of documentation agreeing to these conditions, and conditions of future sales.

Thanks, now I remember.

Wow time flies. I remember that rally like it was not that long ago...... Both the Cobra and the GT1 concept cars were there too.

Did not the Nardo car sell as well?

And the first of the Camilo series?

Wow . What a great set of memories as I just read all 7 pages of the original thread leading up to THE RALLY III Auction !

Long ago and far away .. but seems like yesterday.
Certainly glad I still have my midnight blue today that I trailered to Vegas for RALLY III .
