here is a pic of me racing my Ford GT at the Bonneville 100. i took 3rd place in the Grand Sport 5 class when i drove my GT 101 miles in 40 minutes flat for an average speed of 150 mph :biggrin i had it in 6th gear at 3500-4000 rpm's for most of the race....

the Bonneville 100 is run on a 2 lane highway (93A) in northern Nevada near the Bonneville salt flats in Utah. the road has 50 turns and 50 hills and goes thru a mountain pass. next time i will enter the grand sport 6 class and average 155 mph :cool

Actually, sounds like a blast! We will be sure to meet up with you when you come to see Kendall. Monica need more financial tips too...:lol

^^^^ the only thing faster than my GT is my hedge fund :lol

Very cool.

THAT sounds like fun.

^^^^ it's actually my favorite type of racing. it is very competitive too, as less than 1 second seperated me from the 1st place winner. it gives you the most bang for the buck imo. it's the ultimate speed fix....

I'm jealous!!!
Glad you had fun and did well

^^^^ Ron - thanks for selling me your 2.87" pulley and Heffner tune :cheers it was nice to have the extra HP at this track as it is at a HIGH elevation :thumbsup

from the looks of the front of my car after this race i must have killed half the bugs in the state of Nevada :eek

150 is a great class. That is what we ran at this years silverstate classic. (1995 cobra R). What is the peak tech speed you are allowed in the 150 and 155 MPH classes? What are the safety requirements? Did you use a navigator for timing?

Steve

Way to go Fast Freddy! Looks like lots of fun.

Excellent! The GT is born for it.

However, I do always feel a little guilty after racing mine, it's akin to attempting the final chapter of the Karma Sutra on a first date.

Man thats Awesome, congrats,

I wish we had something like that here, sounds like a lot of fun to do 150+ on the highway, legally!!!:biggrin

Freddy, that is awesome!
I have been thinking about running that type of event for a couple years...I just need to get off my a@@ and do it.
Were you running street tires, Hoosiers???

^^^^ - i ran the factory stock Goodyears. i would use them for the 155 mph class but they haven't built any for years so i ordered a new set of bridgestones last week.

Thanks, I've made the switch to Bridgestones, you will like them.
