I just picked up my GT after getting a Whipple supercharger installed at Bob Ida's shop. WOW!! I am seriously impressed. That thing is brutally fast now. It does require a very sensitive right foot, and you better make sure it's pointed where you want to go when you open it up because you will be there NOW. You really cant use full throttle in 1st and 2nd although 3rd starts to hold. I just drove it home though and didn't really get a chance to stretch it's legs yet. I previously had a Kenne Bell Blower drive with the 2 5/8 pulley and Bob Ida's exhaust and tuning. It made 629 RWHP with that package, and the difference vs stock was almost shocking. Now with the Whipple it is yet another very noticable step up again. It's kind of like Dr Jeckel and Mr Hyde. The car is very drivable using the first half of the throttle, it idles nicely and exhibits no problems at all, yet as you get into the second half of the throttle it becomes absolutely brutal. I'm accustomed to some very fast cars and the punch this thing packs is not to be taken lightly.

Bob did a bunch of mapping on his own to get the air/fuel ratio's where he liked them across the spectrum. The results are fantastic, I couldn't be more pleased so far. I can't wait to get it out for a real run!

Dyno sheet attached, the pull was in 4th gear. Unfortunately it displays wheel speed instead of RPM but you get the idea.

Very nice!:thumbsup
What other mods do you have? What octane was it tuned for?
Congrats!

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. I also had the Ford Motorsport Short Shifer installed. That is really nice, it's about a 25% shorter throw and very positive and crisp feeling, but not a notable increase effort. This is how it should have been in the first place in my opinion.

I'm running the Accufab throttle body with the Whipple. Bob had previously added his preferred plugs and intake brace. To make the car better adapted for occasional track use I had already added a transaxle cooler, Castrol SRF brake fluid, and Hawk brake pads, a spare set of BBS wheels with Hoosier D.O.T. slicks and clear Bra.

I'm now running 93 octane pump gas plus a bottle of 108 (brand) octane boost per tank. Probably really about 95 octane. Boost now is 19 - 19.5.

That's awesome! That makes me want to get mine.:banana

Also, you should check the can. They usually say it raises your octane a few points, but those points are actually 10th's. So you most likely have only 93.5 octane, depending on the octane boost.

I hooked up the Accufab kit on my car the other week and it put out 633 RWHP. Very nice, and ya 1st and 2nd are a bitch but after that your flying.

WELCOME to the WHIPPLE FRATERNITY... no looking back now:biggrin :lol :biggrin

Yea mine is great too.

Bob really knows his fords.I may turbo my speed yellow.so i can feel the diffence

What diameter pulley did you end up going with? I am getting appx. the same boost that you show with a 3.50" pulley.

It's hard to be disappointed with the Whipple. They have a product that flat delivers. It appears as though Whipples are starting to make their way on to quite a few GT's on this forum.

Did Bob Ida do a baseline without the Accufab and later with it to see if there is any real improvement? My experience with throttle bodies is that they add very little or any real improvement. Just wondering.

Dave

I believe that the real advantage of the throttle body is enhanced air flow for better throttle response, not so much added net power.

I think you will find that dyno tests show no real advantage and the perceived increased throttle response is thus not very meaningful. More air without being needed is not a benefit.

Been there and done it.

Maybe a new throttle body only really value is the bling effect when matched with the polished Whipple.

One could test it without a dyno by taking a differential pressure reading in front of and in back the throttle body. Of course one has to find an area without any turbulence. Maybe easier said than done.

Dustin Whipple used to post here:frown , we lost him sadly. He recommends the Acufab throttle body for maximum performance. Wish he would come back and explain why he feels it should be a part of the installation.

At anything above 17lbs boost, the Accufab TB adds power. There was a restriction using the stock TB and it was evident because there was a vacuum reading under boost between the TB and supercharger. Post Accufab the restriction went away and the power increased.

Congratulations John B (and G Force)!
Surely Bob Ida has done one heck of a job and those HP figures are SAE corrected!
I wish everyone here would only post SAE corrected figures for equal comparison.
I know, I know everyone wants to show higher numbers but then it can’t be compared equally against other figures.

Let us know what it’s like when you get those beasties on the track.

If the weather on the East Coast keeps up, it seems Spring will arrive within the hour and our 2007 track days will begin sooner than anyone could have predicted.
Again, congratulations!

Maybe its just me.

I love my car even more whippled. And i was going to keep my yellow car stock,Im thinking of a twin turbo kt.But the car came SC i think it would take away something.I love seeing that SC in window, what do you think?

I agree. KB dyno data shows 11HP with the throttle body (at high boost).

AZChris,
Do you have the Accufab throttlebody? I have one and the car dyno'd out to 652 RWHP on 91 octane plus NOS Racing Booster.
