I just got back from an LA – Key West – LA trip and the odometer ticked through the 20,000 mark. Asides from the luggage issue the Ford is simply an awesome GT car. I’ve stopped in some wild and woolly places to eat/fill her up and I have yet to have a bad experience – people just love it...

I've done this trip several times. But not in the GT. Watch out for the speed bumps - some of them are unmarked and the set in San Ignacio (just before Santa Rosalia) are truly vicious it's like someone placed a low wall in the road. Even when you know it's there it still creeps up on you...

Damn - I was aplauding the introduction of the cellphone usage law... ... Here in LA I continually see so many driving incidents where the driver is yapping into the phone. Most cannot be bothered to put the phone down even whilst parking - it drives me nuts. IMHO this one is long overdue.

I cannot really add to the thread as I've not driven the 430. (Btw there have been some excellent well reasoned posts on this thread.) I have a quick question though: Does anyone have an idea as to when the successor to the 430 is due?

Neil, The half shaft has now "gone back to Ford for further analysis". I'm not sure if I'll ever get to find out what was wrong with it. On the plus side it's just amazing how nice it is without that intermittent but hideously annoying little clicking/creaking sound. Carl.

Hi guys, A quick update. I just got her back from the dealer. It took the guys ten days to track down but my clicking/creaking noise was ultimately traced to the half shaft and was cured by replacing it. Carl.

I do not think that it is this as it only occurs when I am in gear with the clutch fully engaged. And at very very low speeds - ie walking pace. It started fairly recently after about 12,000 miles.

By utilizing Fedex/UPS, the footwell on the passenger side and cramming anything that can take the heat into the front trunk space. Boy it gets hot in there!

It's surprisingly comfortable. Everyone I know that has either driven for a long stretch of been passenger has said the same. With one notable exception - my good woman!
