Lots of work just to replace the windshield. Rich at GT Guy is doing the work.

wow - so both fenders DO need to come off.

You can't lay the glass flat on the sealant otherwise. With the fenders on, you have to slide the glass down on the sealant, risking a poor seal.

Except for wrestling with the fender liners, taking the fenders off is no big deal.

The scary part is removing the old glass. Watching the glass guy go at the windshield with a paddle-bladed sawsall, fractions of an inch away from the paint, is not for the faint of heart.

Rich replaced mine a couple months ago. Picked up a big in Utah. Had clear plex install on new glass.

Never drove My GT's 06 or 2017 without Clearplex.. was a no brainer for me,,,

If you are referring to the ClearPlex, there was a group buy from Trent (Not 4N) a while back. He might have some left. I bought from him, but still haven't gotten around to putting it on yet. I think it was around $200 at the time.

Clearplex has a new business model. They have field techs who will install one on the car. They will preform it to your car.... cost varies by region. You can go to their website and find a local installer..

Do the fenders on the new GT also have to be removed to replace the windshield?

When the 2005~6 cars came out, we had access to service manuals almost right away. I've not heard of any service manual a availability for the new car.

Wasn't GTMD arranging windshield clear film installation at this year's Rally? Maybe he has some leftover?

Bought one from Not 4N as well... mine arrived with some small blemishes... guessing shipping damage... didn't notice it until right before they installed it. Oh well. At least I am protected

Mine had flaws on top comers but installer trimmed and it came out perfect. No distortion at all

Hi Ed,

Yes, the product I had installed on something like 18 cars at the rally was by a company called Pro-Tint out of South Carolina. The product is actually a layered film that can be "torn off" layer by layer after dirt or damage has accumulated on it. It is intended for track use but I still have my 4-layer film installed from the rally and I haven't even torn off one layer yet. It still looks great with minimal distortion.

I have their contact information if anyone has any interest in it.

Yes they need to come off.

If I recall, the one fender needs to come off to replace/service the battery too.
